I’ve been here three times, had the yummy wagu beef twice before, which was good. So I invite a friend to try, today it was really horrible, and I was embarrassed by the poor service and quality of the food.
Today it was cooked and served without any love, nor any care. The beef was not even charred, because it’s so fatty a cut of meat, wagu, it was not good, it was slimy, had a strange Taste, the rice was Luke warm.
The entire meal came out of the kitchen in like 2 minutes after ordering, it was rushed and lacked any care, the meal was horrible. It looked, smelt, tasted, Digested, poorly . Salad was adequate to be fair.
As we were the only two diners in the resturant, I expected at least the same quality of meal, perhaps even a better one, than I had previously enjoyed. It was so disappointing and embarrassing to me.
For my friend. Who’s first time there, he said he felt ill for many hours after. I’m Still tasting this meal, several hours later… lost my business here….
Caught up with my friend for lunch, and asked where he would like to go, he replied anywhere but bad to that joint, actually he said it...
Read moreProbably about a 3.5 for me. The food was a mixed bag. We came here for the pork belly don which was delicious the last time we came... Today the pork belly was quite tough. The signature bento 2 was actually quite delicious and quickly prepared... Though the charcoal flavour tastes kind of manufactured.
Overall, the unfriendly service from the front counter was just a drag. When I entered, there was no greeting - which is fine. But when I went to order at the counter, I just got a sulky look and a tilt up as a prompt to order. After each item the response was a foul faced "is that all". No courtesy or a simple smile. My family had entered before me as I'd parked the car and mentioned it was the same for them. We were the only ones in the restaurant - so sorry we attended and ruined your day was the way they made us feel.
I must give credit to the front staff who were there as we left - maybe that was the problem - a change in shift? Still - left a bitter taste and we won't be back...
Read moreThis charming spot reminded me of small Japanese eateries specialising in wagyu beef bowls. We stumbled upon it by chance and were pleasantly surprised by the quality and value.
What We Ordered:
Teriyaki Wagyu Udon ($18.80) – The wagyu was fresh, tender, and melted in our mouths, pairing perfectly with the udon. Raw Wagyu Beef Don ($20.80) – A standout dish showcasing the buttery texture and flavour of raw wagyu. Chicken Curry Katsu Don ($17.80) – A comforting, hearty bowl with crispy katsu and flavourful curry.
The generous portions were an unexpected bonus, and the complimentary matcha mochi/jelly pieces in the set added a sweet finishing touch.
Tucked away in a row of shops near Chadstone’s Holmesglen Macca’s intersection, this spot is a hidden gem for Japanese rice bowls and udon. Perfect for a casual meal that hits all the...
