Zarb & Ru — Restaurant in Melbourne

We were hoping for better with Zarb and Ru as it rated well. They used good quality soy and oat milk and their prices are good however the coffee wasn’t great. We didn’t finish it. My GF toasted cheese and bacon with onion relish used one of the bread ends - which was stingy. The bread is smaller than a normal loaf so I ended up with a small sized toastie. Popped in for takeaway coffees and was sad to see the atmosphere has drastically reduced in comparison to the old owners. No greeting when I walked in. A bit of a wait to be served on what looked to be a slow day. When I was acknowledged it was a very cold "I'm in a hurry" tone". Coffees came out quick enough but I can see why. I recently visited Zarb & Ru and was absolutely delighted. The coffee was truly exceptional. It is evident that the baristas at Zarb & Ru take great pride in their work. The jaffle was simply divine with the perfect combination of a crispy exterior and delicious internal filling. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, adding to the overall wonderful experience. The cozy ambience and excellent service truly make this cafe a hidden gem worth discovering....
