A True Pakistani Culinary Gem on Lygon Street Nestled in the vibrant heart of Melbourne's food scene on Lygon Street, Ziyka stands out as a beacon of authentic Pakistani cuisine. In a landscape where many desi restaurants often dilute their flavors to cater to the Western palate, Ziyka's chef remains unapologetically true to the roots, delivering a taste that is as genuine as it is exceptional. Our culinary journey at Ziyka began with a trio of Kadhai dishes: Chicken Kadhai, Prawn Kadhai, and Paneer Kadhai. Each dish was a symphony of rich, bold flavors and aromatic spices that transported us straight to the bustling streets of Lahore. The Chicken Kadhai was succulent and tender, the Prawn Kadhai was a delightful oceanic twist on a classic, and the Paneer Kadhai was an absolute vegetarian delight. We found ourselves literally licking our plates clean, a testament to the sheer deliciousness of the food. Complementing the Kadhai dishes were the rotis – hot, fresh, and straight from the oven. They were the perfect vehicle to scoop up every last bit of the flavorful gravies. However, one should note that while the food is worth every second of the wait, patience is a necessity. The dishes take a while to be served, and if you find yourself wanting more rotis, be prepared for a considerable wait. Ziyka's popularity is no surprise given its authentic taste, which is both spicy and delightfully oily, and its reasonable prices. The restaurant has garnered a dedicated following, and it's easy to see why. Despite the minor inconvenience of the wait time, the overall dining experience is nothing short of spectacular. In conclusion, Ziyka on Lygon Street is a must-visit for anyone craving an authentic Pakistani culinary experience. It's a place where tradition reigns supreme, and every bite is a celebration of true desi flavors. Just remember to bring your patience along with your appetite, and you won't be disappointed.

Ziyka Restaurant offers a tantalizing array of Pakistani cuisine that promises to transport diners to the streets of Lahore with every bite. Starting with the Chicken Shinwari, the dish delivers a burst of flavors with its blend of tomatoes, black pepper, green chilis, and ginger, all cooked to perfection in authentic Pakistani heritage style. Priced at $29.50, it's a savory delight worth every penny. For those craving a spicy kick, the Chicken Karahi Kali Mirch, whether boneless or with bones, showcases the chef's secret recipe, boasting bold flavors of Kali Mirch that dance on the taste buds. Each bite at $29.50 is a testament to the culinary prowess of Ziyka. The Veggie section impresses with classics like Lahori Paneer and Palak Paneer, each dish meticulously prepared to capture the essence of Pakistani cuisine. Priced at $19.50 and $18.50 respectively, these vegetarian options offer a delightful contrast to the meatier fare. Seafood lovers won't be disappointed either, with options like the Prawn Masala and Prawn Lahori Karahi, both priced at $25. Each dish promises a symphony of spices that elevate the delicate flavors of the prawns. To complete the meal, the Rice Corner and Bread Corner offer a variety of accompaniments, from the aromatic Chicken Biryani to the fragrant Roghni Naan, priced at $16.50 and $3.90 respectively. No Pakistani feast is complete without a sweet ending, and Ziyka delivers with desserts like Kheer and Gulab Jamun, priced at $7 and $2.5 respectively, offering a satisfying conclusion to a culinary journey through Pakistan. With its extensive menu and impeccable flavors, Ziyka Restaurant invites diners to savor the rich tapestry of Pakistani cuisine in every bite, promising an unforgettable dining experience.

Ziyka is one of the first Indian restaurants that I tried in Melbourne. Maybe I was homesick for the first time, and I liked the food very much. But, the second time was a bad experience. The place has a very affordable menu compared to many places in city, and it opens until late at night. The restaurant was full, and people were waiting in line to get seated. It's a budget restaurant and I can't talk about the ambiance. However, just for the readers, if you expect a silent and peaceful, excellent dining sort of place, then better to stay away. It isn't very quiet inside. The plates and glasses hard little bit of greasy thing on it, and that means it isn't cleaned correctly. We have been requested to move the tables in between as a massive group of people came for dining. Also, it took almost 30 minutes to get our order. The food ordered Chicken Karahi, Paneer Masala, Garlic Naan, and Butter Naan. The food was not at all up to the mark. I was expecting at least a fresh panner considering how busy this place is, and it was quite chewy. I felt like both chicken and paneer are not adequately marinated. It was as if they had used the same curry base for both the dishes and just changed the masala and put the pieces in later. The Paneer dish was awful, and my friend even stopped eating. The chicken curry was good enough, but the chicken is a bit overcooked. I took the Panner masala to take away as I wanted to have it later, and the moment I had a bite, I had to throw it out. I am not at all exaggerating but, this is my honest review. To the management, you guys got excellent crowd support and good business. Please don't ruin it by serving poor food. Also, please keep a signboard at the entrance, if it gets too crowded, saying the waiting to be expected. Some people don't have a lot of time to spare in the middle of the night. I don't understand why you guys don't take the card, and it's only cash in hand business. This is a huge downside for me, and it has to be changed.

It used to be good. But recently there quality has dropped a lot. Food is served cold. They are always too busy and the service is slow. The good thing is the owner/manager listens to your complains and tries his best to correct things. Good place for a late night hang. Chai is great though! Time for an edit! & I am changing my rating from a 3 star to a 1! Decided to come here as they serve Pakistani style Chinese food. Ended up ordering some Chicken Reshmi Kebab on the side as well cause we were hungry. While the Chinese was nice (one star for that), a small bowl of chicken fried rice was served & it was supposed to be a serve big enough to share (good joke, picture attached for reference. The bowl was filled to the top initially but its a small bowl.) Chicken chilli dry & chicken Manchurian were nice but they were the same thing, one with barely any sauce and one with some gravy in it. The kebabs were served cold. Wow! Surprise! Not! When the owner was told they are cold, he indicated to a waiter to change the kebabs. The waiter then proceeded to ignore us and came back 20 minutes later to ASK if we want the kebabs changed. We refused as by that point we were not hungry plus I had gone & read my previous review and started regretting why we came back here. After complaining to the owner all he said was that he is sorry that I felt this way. Clearly nothing is going to change so we will not be returning. Happe dining to everyone else but highly unrecommended from my side!

🆗🍲 Ziyka is a very popular restaurant that's renowned for its Pakistani cuisine. Having dined there a long time ago, I can say firsthand that they're always busy, which is a testament to their quality. This review isn't about my past visit, but my latest food delivery, which was lackluster. 🤙🏻😊 Uber Eats had a special offer on 2 dishes here, of which I ordered the Chicken Fried Rice (originally $16.50, but $10 for me) with an Onion Salad ($2), which came to $14.19 for me. The food was delivered a little earlier, which is almost always a good sign for me. The food itself wasn't very exciting. I know that southeast Asian fried rice is different from the more popular Chinese style fried rice. The chicken fried rice looked plain, with meager amounts of fried egg and chicken. If you're going to skimp on the protein so much, why have an offer in the first place? The rice was seadoned well, with small chunks of veggies here and there. The mint-yogurt chutney with the onion salad helped me finish the box. Overall, it wasn't the best food that I had from Ziyka. I know they're better than this. 🤞🏼🙃 It's better to visit the restaurant and wait to get seated instead of ordering when there are offers. My latest experience was mid, but not so in the past. I'd like to give them the benefit of doubt because they're good, just not this time. 🍲 - Chicken Fried Rice + Onion Salad 💰 - $14.19

🐑 Mutton Kahari (With Bones) 🥘 Chicken Shinwari 🫓 Naan 🍞 Kulcha Ziyka is a traditional Pakistani Indian halal restaurant located on Lygon St, Carlton. It is the place to go for authentic food, to share in a casual setting. 🇵🇰🇮🇳 My friend couldn’t wait to show me this restaurant, as it has become one of her regular visits. Our favourite dish was the Chicken Shinwari which is chicken cooked in tomatoes, black pepper, green chillis & ginger in an authentic Pakistani heritage style. It’s nice and spicy, pair it with some of their Kulcha if they haven’t already sold out for the night. Another delicious option is the Mutton Kahari, served with or without the bones. We found this one a little oily. I did have an issue with hygiene here, I’ve visited twice now and both times I have found multiple hairs in our food. Staff seem unbothered by the fact and the overall cleanliness of the venue too is substandard. Zikya don’t take reservations so it is first in best dressed. It is often busy, with a line or waitlist so prepare for a short wait (usually only 15-20min). The service is all business, so don’t expect anything more than the bare minimum. Flavour though, is above and beyond and I would still return purely on that. ⭐️ 3.3/5 💸 $$
