The Colony of Midland — Restaurant in Midland

I have been coming to this coffee shop for a very long time. I knew the original owner had sold. How ever I had not been for about 5 years and today I thought I would take a chance even though my last experience was not the greatest. Well! Let me tell you, as soon as I walked in, I could see a massive explosion of light, colour, cleanliness and happiness to start with. New layout as compared to my last experience. I expressed my shock and joy to who now owns the cafe. I was treated with respect and the service was wonderful. Friendly, welcoming and fun conversation. Kylie was also training her staff, and was so patient and supportive of them with constant reassurance. My coffee came to me perfectly. The poached eggs and charcoal bacon came as I ordered! A miracle. The menu has a wonderful selection of fresh and healthy choices. And yes, I DO consider Espresso Martini a healthy choice if you don’t mind! Kylie spoke to each person as if she knew them as they walked in and those she knew, she asked if they wanted their regular. Would I now recommend that saggy old cafe that seemed dodgy from years ago? Hell yes! Gone are the days of dark, dank decor and a wif of 1956. Do yourself a favour, get in there and say hi to Kyles and the team and be assured of a top notch...

Had berry pancakes and loaded crossiant with coffees. Coming from someone who's had 18 months experience as a cafe manager and 5+ years in hospitality this place is really well run. Not often you see the owner on the floor doing just as much as any other staff member, particularly on a quiet Tuesday morning. Staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. Credits to the barista for the coffees, decent texture and good flavour, as well as to the kitchen for the food which was very fast and tasty. The pricing was also reasonable and the menu was well set out. Could potentially advertise specials outside as well as inside so you don't have to stand near the till to read but this is very minor and could be because they aren't allowed to interrupt the walkway outside. All round one of the best run cafes I've ever been to, next time we visit Perth will definitely be back. Well done to Kylie and whole...

Very disappointed, I called in here to get coffee and something to eat, I eat low carbohydrate, so I asked if i could make a meal up from the extras list they out right refused, so i asked could they replace the toast with mushrooms for me and they again out right refused. Unless you want your meal their way and not your way I would not go here.

Update, the year is now 2025, I have been contacted letting me know about new management. They are happy to adjust the menu to make it suitable for your dietary needs. The next time I am in the area, I will be calling in to give them a go. Look out for an update in the future. It was a one star, but now I am upping it to a three to do the right thing until next...
