San Churro Midland Gate buckle your seat belts because I would like to tell you a little bit about my experience at your store this evening.
I came in to get an after dinner snack with my partner as any person does when they feel like it and proceeded to your store, when we arrived we waited outside your store as the line moved with another couple in front of us, as they progressed inside we followed them in as it was cold and raining. Now I’d like to add there was NO displayed signage saying there was limits still to the venue. After waiting for a few minutes we were approached and told to leave, when asked why we were snorted at and told “because of covid”
Now forgive me if I’m wrong but there are NO limits to venues now unless sign posted and I know this as I work in hospitality management.
When questioned as to this the staff member walked off to who may be your manager but a lovely young lass called “Isabelle” who likes to make slurs about people and their appearance thinking they can’t hear her...again I would like to reiterate I’m in hospitality management I can hear things in a packed venue because that is my job.
We were then approached by a gentleman who was sent by Isabelle to “handle us” like sorry am I cattle?! After asking us to leave and stating that the people who had come in after us “had been approved”, asking us if we had “signed in” and a few other excuses that even the people in front of us said they were not being asked to do so why were we? He finally listened to me as to why I didn’t feel like we should stand outside for no reason. Upon realising they were in the wrong he apologised for the matter and went back to Isabelle to let her know what’s happened.
Now at this point it should have been over, but Isabelle wasn’t done with her foul mouthed, over opinionated rants as to why we should “stand outside because she said so” but when she realised I could see her quickly smiled and took off, quickly putting out signage and a red bollard behind the two couples that had walked in behind us, who had also NOT been asked to leave.
We ordered our food purely to prove the point that we should not have been segregated our money is as good as anyone else’s and your staff cannot bully us simply because we do not fit her ideals of people.
I brought my children regularly to your establishment as I thought it was family friendly...NEVER AGAIN
I have brought my family to your establishment....NEVER AGAIN.
I have brought my friends...need I say more!!
You have lost valuable customers and I hope people find out that because you may not fit the looks of what your staff deem good enough you will NOT BE WELCOME. Thank you very much for ruining our evening and making us feel less than society.
Purely...
Read moreWhat was San Churros Midland good at? Great quality of food from the menu-churros were cooked well, drinks were made like how they should be The team seemed to be very open to feedback
How can San Churros Midland make it a 5-star experience? 1.If the owner is less condescending to the young employees (I don't think you would want your customers hearing 'You don't want to lose your spot' whilst talking to your employees.) Confidence from the young employees (This ties in to 1.) 3.Despite the flavour being there the consistency on the churros sizes were not met.
This is my first time at San Churros Midland as I normally go to San Churros Belmont. And boy did I regret it. I was greeted nicely and with a warm welcome by Renz upon arriving at San Churros Midland. Renz showed me a general overview of the new drinks and dessert tapas items on the menu. Thank you Renz for serving us that day, I can see that you were trying and working hard, keep it up! Upon arriving inside the store, another guy greeted us (Mac) and told us about the bunuelos, he kept repeating over and over again why I haven't heard about this fried dough balls yet which was weird. Upon looking at the other feedback here at Google reviews, yeah ok perhaps its one of the more delicious items on the menu but as a customer, over harping on why I haven't heard it was weird. As I went to the till, the middle-aged lady served me. I ordered the churros for two from an online discount promotion which needed to be scanned from my phone. She went on and said "Ok, hopefully it works if not then...(she proceeded to do a raspberry)". Honestly, how unprofessional and rude of her!!! As a customer, it's sad how the online promotion was a way for me to get into the store and buy churros, but that middled-aged lady gave the vibe that she was looking down on me for using a discounted price on churros instead of paying it full. Absolutely, disgusting attitude. As the churros came in, I could not help myself but compare it to San Churros Belmont. What I normally get served at Belmont are consistent sizes of the churros. However, the one I received at Midland were inconsistent. Some churros were really short compared to the others. They did taste good though. The drinks were good and of standard. A young employee came to us and asked if the food was ok and if there was anything they could improve on. This was a good thing to hear as a customer because it gives you an assurance that they are open to listening to feedback. Now, the challenge begins if the management will act upon constructive criticism being...
Read moreAbsolutely embarrassing. Went to the Midland store, ordered a Choco Loco and asked for chocolate whipped cream instead of plain but was told they don’t have any, when it turned up, it was also missing the chocolate straw, yes they had them, the just didn’t put it in, just a paper straw, chocolate swirl on the cup is a waste of space as it goes hard as a rock stuck to the glass so adds zero to the drink, so that was essential a $9 chickmilk. Now for my wife’s Honecombe crunch hot chocolate, which they display with a nice big swirl of chocolate whipped cream (which as mentioned they didn’t have but said nothing just subtitle with plain whipped that was all but gone before it reached the table, no big swirl over the height, more like half a teaspoon floating as froth on top so $7.50 for pretty much a plain boring hot chocolate. For my son, a Chocoholic Sunday with a fully chocolate sprinkle churro in a loop. This was the most embarrassing thing I have ever purchased, one small scoop of ice cream, one bite size crunchy square cut in half two thin slices of chocolate a teaspoon of chocolate brownie and the churro loop that was a plain churro with a quarter of it that had a pathetic sprinkle of chocolate sprinkles NOT the fully coated churro, 3 quarters of it was just plan and dry. For that special little rip off, $14 thanks for coming.
If you want to waste a packet on stuff you can get from the local deli for 1 tenth the price, then be warned that exactly what you will get at the Midland store, and the managers did give two hoots.
Oh yes, forgot to mention the dead decent sized dragon fly on the window seal which is at the top of the padded bench seat you sit in, now this was not only gross, but had been there for a while as it was getting taken over by the ants getting stuck into it, I mean how hard is it to get a bloody paper towel and clean the joint properly, I thought hospitality places were supposed to clear more thoroughly as part of their responsibilities for being able to operate with Covid, forget Covid at this joint, it’s the least of their issues. Your likely to catch something other...
