A quaintly designed cafe that certainly draws out the inner child within me. I'm very sure this place will be exceptionally attractive for families with young children, with a robot themed interior and interesting presentation of their food.
I ordered their spicy chicken buns. I will say it is an interesting attempt on Western/Asian fusion. It didn't blow my taste buds away, but I was impressed with its innovative take on its presentation to go with its robotic theme. In addition, the food was served warm, a definite plus as the weather was cold and rainy out.
I took my order from the counter, and the ladies were nice and friendly. After giving me a robot theme tag, she told me I could sit anywhere I wished, in which I took a cosy corner of the cafe to marvel at the interesting decor inside. At that point of my visit, it wasn't very packed, with ample seating that I think could accommodate up to 8 in a group. The seats ranged from standard dining setups to more intimate couch setups for dates to larger family setups. I saw children playing with robot toys that the cafe provides, and I came to realize much later that I could actually play a retro game to kill time on my tag! It is certainly a fun idea to pass time this way, but it didn't take too long for my food to arrive either.
I would definitely say the main selling point would be the theme it has going for it. The name for the cafe itself was interesting enough to catch my eye when I did a Google search, but walking into the cafe was a pleasant surprise. This is not a classy setup for posh dates, but if you're into a fun and wholesome, out of the box chill date, it will definitely be a...
Β Β Β Read moreI went to this place with my brother because it was in the area and had really good reviews on google. When I first went inside I wasn't expecting much. Based on the alternative-looking people at the counter and all the old-school robot toys decorating the place I immediately thought that these guys cant know what they are doing. I thought the only reason they had good reviews is because they were young people, knew how important it was to have a good social media, and probably paid a bunch of people to post good reviews for them. After my brother place out order they gave us a table number thing that had a playable mini-arcade game at the base. I was not static about the eggs benedict I was about to receive. But when they came out after a short wait, I was pleasantly surprised. They looked good, very good! They were presented like a piece of art and they looked delicious. Then I tried it and it tasted even better than it looked. It had a diverse mix of flavours, very herby, but all very well balanced - both flavour-wise and content-wise. The toast was cooked to perfection, not hard or dry, the brisket had moisture but was not soggy, and the eggs were cooked jus the right amount of time so they didnt run all over the place after I sliced into them, all topped of with the ideal amount of hollandaise sauce. The best breakfast that I can remember. Next time I'm going out to breakfast somewhere, this is the place I am going to go. And I am going to order the exact...
Β Β Β Read moreThe Robot Bun Factory is an amazing robot-themed cafe in Midland. On entering the venue, you are greeted by a giant life-sized C-3PO. There must be literally hundreds of robots here: robot toys and figurines, a robot book corner, a huge robot holding the menus, cool robot artwork covering the walls, and even robot salt and pepper shakers! Not to mention I was served my bao buns in the cutest robot tin lunchbox!
The Robot Bun Factory currently have a few different vegan options on their menu. I ordered: -Vegan Bao Buns ($16.90) with deep fried tofu, iceberg lettuce, cucumber, teriyaki sauce, crushed wonton crackers and fried leeks, served with beer battered chips. These were HUGE bao buns, absolutely packed full and so tasty! The chips were also next level delicious! ππ» -Trio mushrooms on toast ($16.90) three types of sautΓ©ed mushrooms, paprika, maple syrup, house made vegan mayo, pumpkin seeds, baby spinach, crushed wonton crackers on toasted sourdough (plus I added broccolini $3) - this was such a great combo, and I loved the deliciously crunchy wonton crackers in the dishes!
They also have a vegan bao on their breakfast menu with avocado, pumpkin, hashbrown, iceberg lettuce and tomato or BBQ sauce for only $6.60 each! There is also a good range of plant based milks available for hot drinks, as well as vegan smoothies.
Although Midland is a bit of a drive for me, it was totally worth it to visit this amazing quirky and fun cafe! Highly...
