Unfortunately I have had to downgrade my 5 star review from 2 years ago. We've been going here for years and the service capacity has reaaaalllyyy dropped off. With only 2 servers on shift, it took us 15 minutes just to flag anyone down for our pre ordered desert. In the end, we cancelled the Nutella calezone and left. This was all at less than half capacity and this is the second time we've had this happen. They are literally non stop and not even within flagging distance! Again, this is at less than half capacity. When we paid, our server advised that she still saw pizza on the table so never came by... reality is, she did not even enter our vicinity due to her pace. These two poor ladies: Greet and seat customers Bartend Bus tables Take payments Serve tables For the entire restaurant on a Friday night! I felt bad for them constantly running and struggling to keep up, but how could they? They work hard. They are not appropriately staffed and the customer takes the hit. It's also one of the few restaurants in modern times with no sound proofing - blaringly loud and obstructing. And lastly, 1.9% surcharge on all card transactions. Bring cash! All this has really put us off. Pizza is still consistent I expect it always will be. The pizza makers are the real deal. We'll be sticking to takeaway from now on if we return.

I was recommended Basilico from a group of friends, finally was able to go with my partner and 2 friends. We were immediately welcomed and were seated at our table. Pizza makers were busy and the smell was promising. The team at pizza and in the kitchen are italian so that's undeniably guarantee of genuinely prepared food. We opted for calamari entree' ( came out marinated - I was hoping it would have been grilled, but I wasn't disappointed), truffle gnocchi and 2 pizzas (which became 3 in the end - the base is flavoursome and thin, so not super filling, the edges soft and bready to keep the filling in - heaven on a pizza base). We opted for a Sardinian wine (which they had run out of unfortunately) - plan B was a Montepulciano d' Abbruzzo ( where my father was from), aromatic and married perfectly the earthy flavour of the truffle dishes we ordered. This is definitely one of the best establishments in Perth for pizza and you need to try their food, closest taste to what you could have while in Italy. Grazie Basilico, ci vediamo presto (thanks Basilico, we will see you soon)

Ordered a white base pizza and a marinara pasta. First off, pizza- AMAZING! When you bite into it, you understand that the dough has been properly prepared (I think it said it was a 48h process) and baked in that large stone pizza oven. Prosciutto was sliced fresh and it tasted amazing- not too salty. The mushroom toppings were so good too. It was packed with enough umami and mixed with that truffle oil…WOW. Pasta was amazing too! They really didn’t go gentle with those seafood. More than enough of mussels, squid and prawn in each bite which were all cooked perfectly. Noodles had a nice chew and coated that marinara sauce so well. Chilli has a proper kick to it so if you can’t take heat, then it might be better to tell the waitstaff to keep your order without chilli. Portion wise, we ordered for 2 and had enough space for a dessert. If you’re hungry, I would suggest to order an appetiser

We dined in as a group of five on a Friday night. There was two servers for the whole restaurant, which was busy. When we got there we had to ask for water and menus. After we ordered, we proceeded to wait over an hour for our pizzas. In the meantime, 2 x tables next to us who received their menus as we ordered got their pizzas (1 less than us), finished them, and got their dessert before we got our pizza. When I asked the server what was going on all she said was “we’re really busy I’m sorry.” Which doesn’t explain why our meal came 25 minutes after the people nearby who ordered after us. There was barely any acknowledge or recognition of the poor service we received, and they didn’t check in at all, or communicate there would be an hour delay at any point; we had to check in to see what was going on and only then did they acknowledge that they were busy and said sorry as our pizzas were finally delivered to the table.

The pizza itself was delicious so still deserved a few stars but would just recommend getting takeaway only so you don’t leave...
