Firstly... before visiting, make sure you have the right Stefano's. There are two places a cafe and the restaurant and they aren't in the same building. We were really excited to visit Stefano's, and this was the main purpose of our trip to Mildura. Stefano Di Pieri was the first cookbook I ever bought, and we were really looking forward to an exceptional dinner. Whilst Stefano was there, we didn't really get to talk to him, he spent most of his time with group tables, given there was only about 10 tables there that night, we were a little disappointed. The dinner was a set menu, so be prepared that you won't get to see the menu, and no one explains what you will eat when you get there. It literally just comes out. The food was all well cooked and decent quality Italian food. However, we were really hoping for a more unique experience. We had rock melon with prosciutto for entrees, a yabbie with potato salad and cheese soufle (all lovely). The main was tomato pasta, which was nice but basic and the main a scotch fillet (ok). Again, I think we were hoping for a rabbit or quail or something we wouldn't normally eat at home. The desert was a few shared dishes that were a bit underwhelming. The service was attentive, but we found it a little pushy on the wine. The bill was nudging $400, which seemed quite pricey given we only had 4 drinks between us. Overall, was an ok experience but didn't live up to our expectations and not sure we would rush back.

We made special arrangements to attend your restaurant. We booked and stayed an extra night just so we could experience fine dining at your restaurant. Unfortunately we were very disappointed. We were served carrot soup, cuddle fish, gnocchi, Cod and tiramisu. The cod was cooked beautifully but the only course served which deserved to be considered part of the fine dining experience. The carrot soup was nice, but not for fine dining, the cuddle fish was chewy, the gnocchi was starchy/bland which we just couldn’t eat it, and the tiramisu consisted of a large dollop of cream with a small amount of biscuit and chocolate sprinkled on top, very disappointing. There was no wine pairing on offer and has the chef had not decided on the menu for the evening, although it was 7pm, it was difficult to choose a wine to match our courses. The waitress did try to offer some wine suggestions, but was unsure whether duck, cod or beef were part of the menu, so she checked said be Duck Beef which we never got. The staff and venue was lovely but nobody questioned why the only course we actually finished was the cod. When I paid the bill I advised my thoughts on the meal to the waitress, she said she would let the chef know. Even after sending this review via email we have had no contact from Stefano's which in itself demonstrates he doesn't care other than ripping people off when its not fine dining definitely wouldn't recommend this experience.

We have dined at Stefano's a number of times over the past decade or so. Stefano has done an enormous amount for Mildura and we enjoy coming here. In terms of atmosphere and ambiance, this place is about as good as it gets. The intimate narrow cellar is a wonderful place to dine. The service is generally good and sometimes great. The food here can be incredible but has unfortunately been a little underwhelming the last few times. Too much pasta, potatoes or cheese dishes and less of the refined or even exquisite dining you might expect for the price. There was a time when around eight very small courses were served here. That's the sort of degustation experience with significant attention to detail that I've come to expect from a place with a generally very good reputation. I'm also puzzled as to why they insist on serving sparkling wine in a wine glass rather than a flute. I don't need to be that 'too cool for school'. Knowing they do this, I asked for a flute ;-) It's always a pleasure to meet up with Stefano at the end of the evening. He's a generous man and a very hard worker. He doesn't stop :-) We will keep coming back but I know this wonderful restaurant that helped put Mildura on the map is capable of being much better than it has been of late. I'm sure Stefano's restaurant can reclaim an exalted position amongst Victoria's fine culinary experiences.

A Five-Star Spanish Grill Experience: Unforgettable Cocktails, Mouthwatering Steaks, and Exceptional Customer Service

I recently had the pleasure of dining at a Spanish grill last night, and I must say, it was an extraordinary experience that deserves nothing less than a five-star rating. From the moment I stepped through the door, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a vibrant atmosphere that set the stage for an unforgettable evening.

First and foremost, let me start by raving about the cocktails. The mixologists at this Spanish grill are true artists, crafting unique and tantalizing concoctions that are a delight to the senses. Each sip was a burst of flavor, perfectly balanced and expertly crafted. Whether you prefer a classic mojito or a creative signature cocktail, their extensive drink menu will undoubtedly impress even the most discerning cocktail connoisseur.

Now, let's talk about the star of the show: the steaks. The Spanish grill takes pride in their culinary expertise, and it shines through in every bite. The steaks were cooked to perfection, tender and juicy, with a smoky char that added an irresistible depth of flavor. The quality of the meat was exceptional, and the chef's mastery in seasoning and grilling techniques truly elevated the dining experience. Whether you prefer your steak rare, medium, or well-done, rest assured that they will deliver a culinary masterpiece that will leave you craving more.

Aside from the outstanding food and drinks, I must commend the exceptional customer service. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of our dining experience was flawless. From their attentive and knowledgeable recommendations to their genuine warmth and friendliness, the customer service truly exceeded my expectations. It's evident that the entire team takes pride in providing a memorable and enjoyable experience for their guests.

In conclusion, if you're looking for a Spanish grill that offers an exceptional dining experience, I highly recommend visiting this establishment. The cocktails are a work of art, the steaks are a carnivore's dream come true, and the customer service is second to none.
