Firstly... before visiting, make sure you have the right Stefano's. There are two places a cafe and the restaurant and they aren't in the same building.

We were really excited to visit Stefano's, and this was the main purpose of our trip to Mildura. Stefano Di Pieri was the first cookbook I ever bought, and we were really looking forward to an exceptional dinner. Whilst Stefano was there, we didn't really get to talk to him, he spent most of his time with group tables, given there was only about 10 tables there that night, we were a little disappointed.

The dinner was a set menu, so be prepared that you won't get to see the menu, and no one explains what you will eat when you get there. It literally just comes out. The food was all well cooked and decent quality Italian food. However, we were really hoping for a more unique experience. We had rock melon with prosciutto for entrees, a yabbie with potato salad and cheese soufle (all lovely). The main was tomato pasta, which was nice but basic and the main a scotch fillet (ok). Again, I think we were hoping for a rabbit or quail or something we wouldn't normally eat at home. The desert was a few shared dishes that were a bit underwhelming.

The service was attentive, but we found it a little pushy on the wine.

The bill was nudging $400, which seemed quite pricey given we only had 4 drinks between us.
