The Settler's Tavern, located in West Gosford is in a business and urban area, visited by plenty of locals keen for a good pub feed and enjoying a catch up with mates.

It’s a big pub with a large indoor dining area and bistro, outdoor beer garden and TAB facilities. It’s recently seen renovations with leather couches, hip stylish cushions and some cool art. Soon to be

We enjoyed lunch in the bistro and found the menu to have a good range of entrees, burgers, pizza, salad and sides.

The Szechuan Pepper Squid the ideal stater, the squid nice and tender, with a light and slightly crisp batter, the dish nicely seasoned with Szechuan Chilli and coriander, this also comes with aioli and a lemon wedge which add even more flavour.

They also have lunch and dinner specials highlighted on the board. We were impressed with the lunch special, a steamed barramundi parcel, flavoured with lemon and chili and it was cooked perfectly. It was served with green beans and crispy chat potatoes.

We also loved their house crumbed buttermilk chicken schnitzel and you can select a few different toppings. We opted for the Parmigana, the schnitty affectionately known as a Parmi, everyone’s favourite. The Settlers version was a solid portion of succulent juicy fried chicken, topped with a tasty Napoli style tomato sauce which was covered with some quality melted mozzarella cheese. This was a quality pub feed indeed. This, and all schnitzels come served with your choice of chips & salad or seasonal veg & garlic mashed potato.

As a side we shared a salad - the Warm Pumpkin, Fetta & toasted Walnut Salad - complete with baby spinach, sun-dried tomatoes, avocado, dukkha, tossed in garlic vinaigrette. This is a gluten free and vegan dish but you can add chicken or squid to it. The flavours on this were lovely and it was...

I used to tell people this was the best Rib Eye on the Coast! 12 - 18 months ago the food started going down hill. I assume the Kitchen Management changed. Last night I had a Sirloin as they say this has replaced the Rib Eye which is a big downgrade for the same price. I'm from off the farm and love a good steak. I asked for a Sirloin medium rare with garlic butter and veges and chips. The Sirloin was very poor quality tasted of old burnt grill grease and had significant sections of uncooked fat and sinew. Poor quality and poorly cooked. The medallion of refrigerated garlic butter I expected to slowly melt over my steak was a ramekin of chopped garlic in heated split butter. The carrot and cauliflower had barely seen heat or a knife. The chips were so overdone I suspect they had been reheated several times. So $36 for a steak that I wouldn't serve my guests at a Barbie and expect them to eat! Garlic butter that gave me indigestion! Veges and chips that I would expect my kids to cook better! Then to add insult to injury $9.60 for a Brookvale Union Ginger Beer as if it were a boutique concoction rather than a cheap US soft drink! I'm all for getting out and and supporting local hospitality that has had an extremely tough year. However I won't go back to Settlers with inedible food and inflated drink prices and waste another 45 bucks only to leave a bad taste in my mouth in more ways than one. I'd give it zero stars if...

Food was great awesome menu and all options were fantastic and haven’t had a bad meal there yet Unfortunately staff in the bar and gaming are very rude. I went with a group of friends for a birthday dinner we entered the gaming room to have a cigarette as they as removed smokers section to install more gaming machines, we were asked to leave the gaming room as we weren’t playing the machines. We went back to our table and walked just outside the venue to the steps so that we could have a cigarette my friend took a schooner glass out onto the steps to have a smoke. We were all asked to leave as he had taken a drink outside the venue. We apologised profusely and said we didn’t realise that you couldn’t have it on the steps outside. Security and manager both came over to a group of us we told them we were sorry and that we won’t have anymore to drink and will just have our dinner and head home. Security then continued to tell us they would call the police and that we all have to leave immediately or else we will all receive a fine. Was a very abrasive interaction for a small misunderstanding even after apologising they treated us like delinquents. Probably won’t be back after...

Have been a few times now, recently went in for lunch. Good quality pub feed at reasonable prices. Fish & chips were cooked well, chicken schnitzel was huge, and covered in heaps of cheese and pineapple (Hawaiian). Have had the wedges before when just in for a few beers. It was all pretty tasty. The $10 cocktail was awesome (not sure if it was just a weekend thing or if it's a regular menu item). The venue itself looks good with the renovations, gets a good crowd in there during sports events. Have been a few times to watch the UFC which is well advertised. Will definitely be back for more food.

I had not visited The Settler's Tavern for about 7/8 years so thought we would give it a try today for lunch. Menu had plenty of options and there was ample seating available inside and out. Service was friendly, the atmosphere was relaxed and prices were reasonable. I ordered the 400g schnitzel which was $27 and a bbq topper for $6 so $33 all up so on the high side for lunch but okay for the amount of food we received. Definitely looking forward to coming back and trying some of the other items on the menu.
