I have an assistance dog and she wears a harness with this clearly displayed. The person serving, waiting and taking orders looked directly at her after I had entered and sat down and again when I went up to order. He continued to attend to serveral others before eventually turning to me again after glancing at her and I was still curtly told "Dogs are not allowed in here, mate". After I pointed out she is an assistance dog, he walked off and served someone else. I wasn't impressed. The food is ok, presentable and tasty and reasonably priced but errs on the smaller portion size. Their printed menu prices aren't clear though and don't match what is programmed into their point of sale software which saw us bring over charged. Only 50c but the principle remains. Unfortunately when it was politely pointed out, it wasn't well received and the response made me feel uncomfortable and awkward, although I did get the 50c reluctantly refunded. On the plus side the meal was good and the coffee excellent. The grumpy customer service needs a lot more work though. Update: Returned today 10/10/23 for a second chance visit. 3 of us at the table. 3 dishes and drinks ordered at the same time. Burger, Salad, Pasta. Drinks arrived soon-ish. Followed by the pasta dish. All inside about 10mins. 20mins later no sign of the other 2 dishes. A salad can't take THAT long to create, surely? I enquired to their whereabouts and by 35mins after the order they finally arrive. One of us had to eat alone. The other 2 similarly. Uncomfortable. Note, it wasn't busy! The chicken burger was well over cooked but hunger and anger over ruled any protests. It was not fast. It was not tasty. It was disappointing, yet again.
I still don't...
Read moreFirst time I've been.. it's ok. Was a wet cold day. All of the 2 seat tables are outside so no choice to be indoors *having said that its all open plan so the indoors was mostly open to the elements. They had ceiling heaters but with the wind howling through the gaps in the plastic sheeting/ screens it was quite chilly. Food was tasty. Coffee was good. Had chilli scrambled eggs. Could barely read the menu. It was printed in black and white with half the text printed over a big black leaf shape covering the words. Toilets didn't lock or if they did it wasn't obvious to figure out. My partner couldn't work it. So didn't bother..then when I was walking up to use it, the guy infront of me opened up the door to a woman sitting on the loo (who also couldn't work out the lock) when I raised this with the staff they spoke to me like I was an idiot. When in the space of 2 minutes it was clear we weren't the only ones to have this issue!
There's a lot of competition for peoples coffee money. And it's the little things/basic things that make a difference and are the things customers remember. I'll try again one day. And hopefully...
Read moreUsed to like this place a lot- good food, friendly service - but sadly it has been sliding for a while. And now its broke.
It started when the police got priority service and you were left waiting even when you were next to pay.
But most recently I got my coffee served with a dose of lipstick from the prior customer (a total turnoff). That can happen but... should I check my fork & knife & plate in future? Surely hygiene should be priority. Sure they offered a replacement coffee but frankly the entire meal should have been on the house. In the age of covid and fanatical hygienics... the owner should at least have come to the table. But nope ...
As for poached eggs on toast with salmon ... how hard can it be? Tommy's effort could not have been more bland. Yep ... two poached eggs, on a piece of toast (no butter even) with a slice of salmon rolled up on the side. No garnish. No sauce. Impossible to make it drier.
So from prior 5 star status ... its goodbye from me. I still shudder at the thought of having drunk 1/2 a cup before noticing...
