Disappointing Experience - Rushed, Unwelcoming, and Poor Service From the moment we walked into resturant it felt as though the staff were more focused on getting us out than providing a welcoming dining experience. Plates were being cleared the second we finished, often before we were truly done — including our soups, which were taken away mid-meal without so much as a word. At 9:00 PM, we were abruptly told that the kitchen was closing, to see even the bar was closed and by 9:20, staff were visibly hovering. At 9:30, we were outright asked to leave. There was no opportunity to relax, enjoy a drink, or simply soak in the atmosphere. For a venue that advertises “Dinner from 5:30 till late,” this was misleading and deeply disappointing. As an Echo member, I expected much better. The rushed service, lack of basic hospitality, and disregard for guests’ comfort made this one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. Sadly, I would not recommend based on this visit.

Last Sunday we travelled to Kiama on the Picnic Train and after a nice previous experience we booked a table at Yves for lunch. We were greeted by friendly smiles on arrival, shown to our window table and we were attended by attentive staff all afternoon. We were fortunate to have decided on this venue for lunch as the heavens opened up and we just sat in comfort looking over the harbour. The food was first class, entrees being Tempura Prawns (beautiful light and fluffy), and Autumn Scallops (melt in the mouth) followed by two serves of Battered Fish which was delicious and the batter was nice and light. Pre lunch we celebrated a birthday with a couple of glasses of bubbles and with and post lunch we had a bottle of Habitat Pinot Grigio and coffee. Finally we had to make our way back to the railway station in the pouring rain. Thank You for making our day so special.

I enjoyed a lovely Mothers' Day lunch with my 3 sons aged 17-21. The menu was interesting and special. Duck breast and pork belly were delicious and the boys loved their Wagyu beef burgers with plenty of delicious flat cut chips. The limoncello tiramisu was a nice change too. The staff were friendly, perhaps a little inexperienced, but that did not take away from good service. I had noticed this before and love that staff at Yves are patient, friendly and never pushy when it comes to taking your order. They give you plenty of time and come back with a smile. The stunning view and great live music by Joe Mungovan made for a perfect lunch. Unlike many other restaurants and cafes, Yves has carpet on the floor so it never gets too noisy for a good conversation over your meal.

I liked this place. Was here at the hotel upstairs for almost a week for a work thing, stayed an extra night after and had dinner here on my own the final night. It's clearly popular with locals and visitors alike, and the food is worth it. Really nice, well balanced, good selection, just enough interesting not to be boring but not so much you feel you're under pressure to experiment. Service was really mediocre though. They were lovely and polite, but gosh I felt they never came by to take my order despite telling me several times they'd be there in a moment (and whilst there were people here the wait staff were not run off their feet). You gi to the counter to order drinks separately, so I did that and asked them if I could just order there and they took another 15 mins. Then they didn't bring cutlery and that took another 5-10. The waitress had encouraged me to wait before ordering dessert, and I confess after waiting 20mins I'm about to give up and just leave. Lovely place though, just don't...

It was terrible. We booked a table. They don't have table service, so you have to order at the bar. Which is fine, but that's cafe style & it's restaurant prices. We asked for the 3 children's meals 1st. They came quickly, but they were dry & over cooked. The kids didn’t want to eat that dry, hard bun & dry over-cooked patties. The adults had to wait an hour for their meals to come. After we asked abt the meals they said they're plating up & still 10 mins, do they must have been on their way… We had the pork Gnocchi, with pork cracking (which was soft & not fresh) & very male/strong porky aroma & flavours. You can buy better quality pork at Woolies. & They were too lazy, inefficient & unobservant to even bring a spoon so we could eat the juices if we wanted to. They have a great location, what could be a great vibe. It's expensive looking & prices aren't cheap, but the food is boring, poor quality for price & cooked completely without love. We won't ever go...
