A Dazzling Dining Experience That Delivers on Every Level
From the moment you step into this opulent gem in Newcastle West, you know you’re in for something special. The interior is a feast for the eyes—dripping in gold, intricate patterns, and dramatic chandeliers that wouldn’t be out of place in a palace. It’s bold, glitzy, and unapologetically fabulous.
But the real star is the food. Every dish i ordered was bursting with authentic flavour and beautifully presented. The Chicken Tikka arrived sizzling hot, smoky and tender with a punchy marinade that lingered in the best way. The Onion Bhaji were perfectly crisp and paired with a cool, refreshing mint sauce that balanced the spices beautifully.
The Beef Vindaloo was an absolute standout, rich, complex, and with just the right amount of heat. Paired with fluffy saffron basmati rice, it was deeply satisfying and clearly made with care. Even the sparkling water came in elegant glass bottles, adding to the premium experience.
Service was warm and attentive, and despite the luxe setting, the pricing was incredibly reasonable for the quality of both food and atmosphere.

Read moreTwo fantastic dining experiences in one week at Royal Indian Restobar leads me to confidently say that the food quality & the service @ Royal Indian Restobar in Newcastle is as fantastic as the opulent atmosphere. I was so impressed when a couple of friends introduced to Restobar recently, that I booked to revist within a few days to introduce other friends to Restobar, too. The restaurant deco is like nothing else presently in Newcastle. We were blown away with our first impressions (think chandeliers, gold chairs with velvet upholstery, plush flooring, beautiful cutlery, crystal glassware & gold embossed dinner plates). The cuisine is excellent and varied. We particularly enjoyed the goat curry. The level of spice for all dishes is made to your taste & order. The drinks list is very good (great wines which are well priced). Some craft beers to be added to the beer selection would be good for lovers of craft beers. The staff are attentive, friendly & helpful...an excellent level of service. The price of the meal options is extremely reasonable. I'd really love it if the background music was of Indian culture because then diners would truly feel transported into another world! We've enjoyed two great recent experiences at Royal Indian Restobar & will certainly back soon. The restaurant looked popular so bookings...
Read moreI recently visited Royal Indian Restobar to celebrate a special day, only to be met with disappointment. Upon arriving, we were told that they were fully booked and that we needed a reservation. It was frustrating, especially since we weren't informed about the need for a reservation, particularly on weekends. I called to express my concern, and instead of a helpful response, I was met with rudeness. The staff suggested that we "come another day" if we wanted to dine there, which was completely disrespectful and also said come after 20 mins if there is a room you can sit. Are we free all the time to come and see if there is any space so that we can dine in.
The phone conversation only made things worse – the attitude was dismissive, and the staff member seemed uninterested in helping. When I mentioned leaving a review, the response was simply, "Do whatever you want." I was shocked by the lack of professionalism and respect.
This experience completely ruined our special day. I urge others to either book a reservation well in advance or be prepared for disappointment. It’s a shame that a simple meal turned into such a frustrating experience. I would advise the restaurant to train their staff to be more polite and considerate of customers. A little respect...
