This place use to be decent years ago when I would frequent the store. Today a friend and I came into the store where is was hotter in store than outside, which is red flags for the perfect climate for seafood and bacteria. There was hardly anything on the train and what was there was basic and looked like it had been travelling around the train for several days. I decided for food safety to order items from the menu just in case. I looked at the menu and for all plated items that should be travelling around the train at a decent store, they had no prices and the staff member I spoke with couldn't tell me how much anything was and started to guess what colour the plates would be to indicate any form of price. I was extremely shocked. Myself and my friend ordered several items from the menu and the young man put our order in. Only to have another staff member return to explain they didn't have some of the items we had ordered. I then looked at the disgusting filth of food, grime and debris that looked have been building up under the train for several months. That was it. That was the last straw and I was not prepared to eat anything from this place or ever return. Needless to say the two plates my friend had consumed in this period was a yellow and gold plate totalling nearly $20. Disgusting for what was actually on the plate.
We will never return here and will tell our friends and family to strongly avoid this place as well.
Such a shame when it use to be a decent...
Read moreWe went here for an early lunch on the 29th Oct and as the store was open, we expected to have quite a vatiety of sushi to choose from. But no, they opened their store with maybe 4 different types of sushi going around. We sat our selves down as there were no serving staff around and even the “sushi chefs” didn’t acknowledge us. My partner went to get us 2 bottles of water from the fridge and as I took a sip of mine, he pointed out that there was not really anything going around the conveyor belt and maybe we should just go, as they clearly shouldn’t have been open yet.
I said that I’ll go to the counter to pay for my water, which I had a mouthful of and still no waitstaff were to be seen.
The “sushi chefs” looked at me and didn’t acknowledge me or call out for a server to let me pay for my drink. I left the bottle on the counter and walked out!
Such a shame that Newcastle doesn’t have a store like the sushi train brand, that are actually run by Japanese staff, that actually care about the image of their store and what they produce.
They really should take a leaf out of Go gogoro at green hills Maitland! We went there today, as they opened for the day and they had a full conveyor belt going around, with pretty much everything they had on offer! Good value for money too!
Needless to say, we won’t be wasting our money at...
