We're in Darwin CBD here on a cruise ship with a quick stop in Darwin, we're a long way from home in Melbourne! Got a recommendation from a local to check out Six Tanks Brew Pub as we love a brewery, the atmosphere is simply amazing, the decor is on point and they play decent music inside the bar area. They have 26 beers available on tap, with one through six being their own beer brewed in house. Unfortunately out of 26 beers on tap, there was no dark beer options, and the two Victorian beers on tap are mainstream stuff from CUB, it would be nice for the two Victorian options to be from our prominent craft/microbreweries rather than the foreign owned corporate monster that's CUB. The food was great, however by the time we got our food most of it was cold as the timing was a bit off how they prepared our share plates, but it's no big deal, this would be a five star venue with just a few small changes on how they serve their meals and a bit more variety in the beers - a couple dark beer options would be great and get rid of CUB for the Victorian representation in exchange for some of our fantastic microbrewery options we have down south. Certainly worth a visit if you find yourself in Darwin CBD, great venue.

Came here as a last minute find on a cruisy Monday evening in Darwin. Six Tanks was pumping, great energy all round - if I were local would deffs be a great option to take a group of mates. I’ve never been to a pub where you collect both food and drinks using a buzzer, could see it working well given the spread of customers but a little lacking in the sense of customer service. Food was good! My partner and I both had chicken parmis and agreed that the parmi itself was good, but the chips and salad were far better, which is a compliment as the parmi was pretty damn good. Weird side note that there appeared to be a leak in the roof that dropped onto my partners arm during our meal - presume this is only temporary and didn’t detract from overall experience. Cheers folks

Context - I travel to Darwin frequently, Six Tanks is (was) my go to for a Monday night feed as I enjoy trying their in house brewed range and having a bit of fun with the musical bingo. Usually the Scotch Fillet and Surf & Turf option is a no brainer. This experience: I walk in and wait patiently whilst the staff behind the bar finish talking to someone they knew. I was then overlooked by another patron and waited to be second served (it’s ok). I went to order a house beer, none available. I ordered a Scotch Fillet Surf and Turf - Medium for $49, it was the most well done, toughest, grizzliest and thinnest piece of steak I have ever eaten. Essentially, the one star on this occasion is for the Musical Bingo Lad who never fails to entertain.

Great selection of beers, and a strong selection of whisky, including a few nice Japanese whiskys. I really wanted to enjoy the food, me and a friend ordered a steak and burger. Neither of us could finish, they were dry and either tasteless, or tasted off-putting. They looked fantastic though, if you look at the pics posted, not sure how the food was so poor.

Didn't particularly like the beer I ordered, so went with a vodka martini from the menu. The bar girl did not know how to make it, and kept trying to switch this to an espresso martini. Finally a manager was called in, and I got a martini made. It tasted decent, however I have never seen olives thrown in loosely without a skewer of some sort. Very odd.

I won't go back for dinner or lunch, but I am interested in the candied bacon, and will go back for beer and bacon. I sincerely hope they don't mess that up.

Aside from that, it's a beautiful venue that's a sign of the growing maturity of Darwin. Unfortunately it's imitated the recently opened Rourkes in providing a great venue with sub-par food...at least at Rourkes the...

Good beers and wings. I don't know why you would want anything Japanese or Tex-mex in Darwin (I always wonder why people write such nonsense in these reviews). I came here for the local brew with bar/pub food. They have it. Huge chips/potato plate, hot buffalo wings and decent pizza. APA, IPA, kolsch, and the amber were fantastic. Why bother with the flight/paddles when you can just get a pint? Besides, you have to give up half the paddle with crappy wannabe crafts like J.S. Like any other auzzie pub, you need to get off your butt and order everything at the bar. We saw an East Asian family leave because they probably couldn't figure out the system. Service is decent, especially on Easter Sunday night when staffing was light through tall establishments throughout town. I nearly spat up some sweet wine that's on tap, I don't feel bad writing this because the bartender agreed with me that it's pretty bad. I recommend that you stay with the beer. There is a very nice meat platter for around $55AUD, check it out if you are going...
