Second time I’ve now been to Groundstone cafe for breakfast. Upon entering they had messed up our reservation (due to a busy morning) but did finally find a table for us to sit at. Again another cafe where I have to order at the counter which I feel misses what good service should be. Menu has some great options on it despite being a little bit on the expensive side. My coffee order arrived after my food did which was a while. I want to go into a coffee shop and be able to enjoy my coffee and chat while waiting for breakfast not have to ask if they have forgotten me. Food tasted great and coffee was good. 👌I feel the service should be of a higher level when you are charging me around $20 for a breakfast meal and don’t get me started on the $7 for a milkshake! It’d want to ring my bell 🛎 for that amount. Overall I would visit again but would live it if coffee was served faster and service picked up. Groundstone just read the other reviews.. I’m not the...
Read moreFood done right. Each element on my plate was considered, cooked properly and compliments the other ingredients. Eggs perfectly poached and served with white and black sesame seeds. Extra texture, beautiful presentation. I would use nigella seed (as I do at home) but love that seeds were used. Its those extra details that elevate the dish. Tomatoes cooked properly and herbed. Im constantly frustrated being served undercooked tomatoes with no flavour. Nice to finally find a place that takes the time to cook them properly. The Tomatoes paired perfectly with the spicy chorizo (and also the haloumi that i stole from nieces plate). Flavourful mushroom. Plentiful bacon and sourdough. I didn't even need to season this dish. "The Feast" was perfect and will get me through until tomorrow. Great coffee, in a mug big enough to swim in. If you want a meal that's considered and a cut above, Groundstone is the place for you. Ill be back when I visit...
Read moreLast Friday we did a trip from the Blue Mountains to see the John R. Walker exhibition at the Orange Regional Gallery. We had looked at the website of the Groundstone Cafe beforehand and decided to lunch there. When we arrived at around 12.15pm we discovered that the menu was not that which was on their website. So what to order on today's menu....they had nothing except the usual bacon & eggs, burgers etc. All the other items on the menu they didn't have - no to this, no to that. In the end we ordered Peri Peri Chicken burgers, which were absolutely laced with garlic and very unpleasing. On top of that, the prices were outrageous...$26 incl. french fries! $14 for a glass of Sav Blanc! $8 for a brownie. And to boot, there was a very surly male youth, however the female staff were more hospitable. Not a good experience and it left a bad taste in my mouth! This was not an enjoyable lunch experience. ...
