What a disappointing experience. I genuinely felt second-hand embarrassment for the owners of this place. 1. Service Delays: It took half an hour just for the staff to take our orders. 2. Misleading Portion Sizes: We were told the portions were “enormous,” as you’d expect from a Greek restaurant. However, the reality was the complete opposite—each dish was bite-sized. We were literally rationing the food to one bite per person. 3. Ridiculous Ordering Policy: After spending $200 on food and still feeling hungry, I went to the counter to order six gyros. To my surprise, the staff refused to serve me, stating that the gyros restaurant was “separate” and their policy didn’t allow mixing the meals. This was absurd. They could have easily upsold us from $200 to $320. Even if gyros were priced at $30 each on the sit-down menu, I would have ordered them. What a missed opportunity. 4. Poor Wine Quality: The red wine was awful—definitely not worth the price. 5. Embarrassing Food Presentation: At one point, the waiter dropped three carrots from our meal. Ten minutes later, he returned with a single shriveled carrot on a plate. It was laughable. He could have at least added some salad or brought a few extra carrots to make up for it. Dividing that sad carrot between six of us became a running joke at the table. 6. Reputation Among Locals: When I shared this experience with my Greek friends, they explained that the owners don’t care about this restaurant as they’re too busy making money elsewhere. This neglect is obvious in the management and service. Brika has so much potential, but it’s being wasted. Poor management and a lack of attention to detail are holding it back. Serious changes need to be made to turn this place around.

It was our first Greek food experience and we were really keen on having a taste of it so we picked Brika based on google review ratings. We booked a table during the opening hours so it wasn't flat out until later on. The guy at the reception greeted us with welcoming delight which is a good sign although the table (for two) assigned to us is a bit small I reckon. We were offered drinks and the server explained to us what's on their menu to give us ideas on what to get. We ordered the non- seafood Chef's menu for our table. For starters we had the: Saganaki- we were told to get right into it because it tastes better when it's hot. Very tasty but I can't get the hint of the pomegranate syrup because the cheese is overpowering. Pita bread w/ tzatziki and fava- having the pita bread by itself is salty but the dips balanced it out. Spanakopita- I enjoyed it and it tasted fresh. For the mains we were served with the greek salad first followed by the Souvla chicken. The greek salad is pretty average nothing special, but the chicken is really nice and still juicy with the charcoal smoked flavor. Next came the Slow Roast Lamb and the Fried Patates w/ feta. The lamb is nice and tender falls off the bone but I can't see and taste anything unique about them as well. For the dessert we were served with the Loukoumades which is the greek donuts w/ honey syrup, walnuts and ice cream. Having the donut by itself is not enjoyable to eat but with the ice cream it was really nice. Overall the food is pretty average as my first standard of Greek food but the ambience is really nice and the service is the best service I've experienced so far. Kudos to the staff who were very attentive and happy to serve us 👍.

Lovely venue, packed out on a Saturday night 8pm booking, so book in advance. Some nice window-sill type seats looking out over the outside area, perfect for a dinner for two on a warm night Service was friendly but a little slow, only as they were so busy. Food was cooked nicely, the charcoal lamb was beautiful, sweet and the fat rendered properly, the charcoal style chicken also good but we felt needed some more of the saucey stuff on the plate to go with it. Dips and warm pita were mmmmmm! Also had a beetroot, kale and haloumi salad which was nice but also not much by way of dressing/sauce (I love the way places like Island Market and Coogee Common dishes have all sorts of emulsions/purees to add a sauce element). Baklava for dessert also pretty good.

Thankfully, McDonald's was next door!!! UPDATE 15/11/23:

Thank you for your response, and I will leave my original review.

Please leave your response unchanged. You are correct, there will be unreasonable reviews and a venue's response to negative feedback gives patrons an idea of what to expect. A genuine person will own an error, request communication, and/or try to either fix the issue or explain. It could be an off night, new staff or countless other issues.

Some facts:

  1. I attended a restaurant, received bad service and a meal that was not worth what I paid.
  2. I didn't make the booking, I attended as a guest and was sitting at a table with the other restaurant goers.
  3. The only time anyone at the venue was interested in how our table's meals were, was after I placed a review. As you said, "We had to call them to find out what happened". You spoke to a table served by the owner. Why didn't you speak to us?
  4. I am glad that you checked my other reviews. Here are some examples of great food and service:

Original review: At no time did anyone ask how the meal was while we were seated. No one cared until I wrote a review, then we got a phonecall to remove the review?!?!

I tried to order 2 drinks. We spent over $9 on a glass of coke and a glass of lemon lime and bitters. It was 200ml glasses with ice. 2 sips and gone.

Do not expect a proper meal. Apparently, Greeks don't believe in garnish?!?!

The barramundi came with A lemon wedge, the charred lamb ribs (enjoy the taste of charcoal, and when you get through that you find a nice thick layer of fat. Where's the meat???), comes with a steak knife. You can buy a GREEK SALAD that has olive green capsicum but no actual olives. The charred Fremantle octopus tasted great, you get a whole plate for the 8 pieces that will fit in the palm of your hand (each piece is smaller than half a chicken nugget).

So let's do the math: $36 for a piece of fish as large as your PALM $33 for lamb flaps (not ribs) that tasted like charcoaled fat $14 for a salad that was literally diced capsicum, half a tomato and a block of fetta $9.50 for 2 small glasses of soft drink

We had to wave wait staff down as they seemed to actively avoid us. It took 4 goes to place an order. When the meals came they gave them to the wrong people..... and I mean the last meal came and the waiter gave it to someone who had a plate in front of them instead of the guy that had nothing in front of him. Someone ordered cake and the waitress tried to put it on top of someone's main dish while they were eating. This was done while we were physically pointing at the dishes owner.

Soft serve cone from Maccas saved the night. $92 meal for 2, and the best part was somewhere else for desert.

Sick of disappointment in Perth...

TLDR: Food varied between left wanting to incredible. Disappointing, disrespectful, and lacking service.

We booked a table for Valentine's Day 2023. Set menu, 3 course and a dessert. When we were seated, we were provided with a glass of sparkling wine (lovely!). We were asked about water choice. Another couple was seated approximately 10 minutes after us. They received their first course before us, and my partner needed to advise the waitstaff that we hadn't received our first course (no issues, things happen). The female waitstaff informed us the chef wanted to know which waiter had served the other table first. We advised her we didn't know. She then went to the other couple and asked them. When informed they didn't know, she stayed waiting for them to identify the waiter - already making for a fairly awkward moment. We weren't looking to get anyone in trouble.

Our second course came out and was served to the couple on our right, who needed to pass it back to us as they had already finished their table service (not a big deal). This happened with both parts of the second course.

However, during the middle of our second course, another waitstaff brought out our third course. We advised him that we weren't finished with the second course and if he could please send it back until we were finished as, it would be appreciated. He stated "I will let the Chef know, but this is here now, so I'm going to put it down". It is bizzare to run service like this as no other table had dishes brought out while they were completing a course, other tables were on earlier courses than ours, and it felt like we were being rushed.

While I believe the (lack of) service may have contributed to the opinions of the food, I also believe the Chefs may not have been performing their best after the incident either, as the quality of food deteriorated dramatically as we walked (or were run) through the courses.

Course 1 - Pita bread with melitzanosalata, and taramosalata - excellent.

Course 2 - Saganaki - Salty but okay Course 2 - Charred Lamb Ribs - Lamb cooked very well. Very fatty, however. Did not finish.

Course 3 - Souvla Chicken - Chicken was cooked beautifully. Few too many pieces of just chicken skin (soggy, not crispy). Did not finish. Course 3 - Roast Peach Salad with Haloumi. Inedible. This was so heavily salted with a completely imbalanced flavour profile. Did not finish.

Dessert - Nutella Cheesecake - just okay. Sweetness there with no substance. Did not finish.

A final note to a regrettably forgetable dinner: While we were asked about our water choice at the start, we were never asked at any point whether we'd like anything else to drink (though a drinks menu was provided). The sparkling water ran out midway through (around course 2). and we were not asked whether we would like another bottle, or to switch to tap at any point, though once the dessert was brought out, the female waitress did replace our empty sparkling water with tap water.

The restaurant manager did write off the sparkling water we ordered, and seemed to take our...

Booked a Sunday dinner as a belated birthday meal for my mum. The evening was a little strange from the start. I walked in to let the maitre d know I had a reservation and he was hurried and not very welcoming, it was busy but not insane. The same cold rushed reception was given when paying like it was an inconvenience to have to come and serve me.

The 4 seat tables outside were all just a little bit small to be comfortable so I perched off the end and when we asked if we could take a chair from an empty table nearby for our bags and jackets, the girl I asked seemed super anxious as to whether this was allowed even though we were only 3 people and someone had already taken our 4th chair...

When it came to ordering, it was obvious we hadn't been there before so didn't know the style of serves ie, more of a share situation than individual meals, but the waitress didn't bother to provide any info on what to expect and just said get the chips as a side.

The dips came out and were pretty nice, no fault there, but the first main, souvla chicken, and it's salad came out before we'd even got halfway through the dips. So that sat on the side of the table getting cold. Then the second side (chips) came out well before the squid. The squid came out when the dips had been finished and we started sharing those out while waiting for the final main, the whole fish. We were almost finished will the meal before the fish finally arrived.

The waitress also started clearing the table before all meals had been finished which in general is a bit of a no no.

There needs to be a bit of effort put into educating staff that they need to take a moment to explain the menu so that paying customers know the style of meal as it's vague at best on the menu. Simply saying, each main plate is best paired with a side over here or a salad from here would have been fantastic.

In general, the meal was ok. Everything was alright, the squid a little chewy, the fish still had some scales, the pork bits in one of the dips overcooked, but in general it was passable. Not quite the amazing Greek experience I was hoping given my memories of other long closed restaurants in Perth, but I'll give it another chance before making a...
