The Art Gallery of Western Australia (AGWA) is a premier art museum located in the heart of Perth's cultural precinct. Known for its impressive collection and engaging exhibitions, AGWA offers visitors an enriching cultural experience. The gallery houses a vast array of artworks, including historical pieces, contemporary art, and notable Indigenous Australian art, providing a comprehensive view of the region's artistic heritage. One of AGWA's standout features is its interactive spaces, where visitors of all ages can engage creatively. These areas encourage hands-on participation, allowing people to draw, create, and explore their artistic abilities, fostering a deeper connection with the art on display. (This review is directed mainly to the exhibition of Yoshitomo Nara.) I loved Yoshitomo Nara's exhibition within the ACWA. One thing that I believe is that with art, you don't have to make it complex, with theories there, theories that, yada yada. Yoshitomo didn't have to follow the complexity of Art Theory and maintained some emotion with it, and also, it looked really nice. I noticed that a lot of his artwork is directed towards the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombing. His artwork is like visual protests towards having peace to the world; hoping that future generations don't create war (like his artwork Love or Nuclear made in 2013.) It gives me hope for the future world, for peace and tranquillity, and less atomic violence. I gotta say, the way his exhibition room is set up looks really nice and neatly done. I also love you can see the early untitled concepts of his sculptures, to see how much prototypes have changed over time, or if he just kept the design. Speaking of, his sculptures looked really beautiful and unique. The sculpture that was my personal favourite was Miss Forest (i assume that's what the tree lady is called), she looked really pretty. I also love some of the pottery and vases that he made (my favourite being 'reach out to the moon, even if we can't'. really love the name of that one). Overall, the Yoshitomo exhibition at ACWA was really nice. I recommend it.

The Art Gallery of Western Australia is home to some of the Best Artworks on Display from around the World... The Art Gallery itself and surrounding areas have undergone extensive renovations over the past few years especially and still continue to display such a diverse range of Art.... The Staff are extremely knowledgeable and well trained in all types of Artwork... From paintings to 3D structures, there are so many amazing pieces of Art...!! The Art Gallery of WA is most definitely worth visiting whilst the holidays are still on.... At the moment they are still showing Heath Ledger's Life in Pictures Display... It is a great display and if you make your way down here, you will see just how talented this young West AustralIan man was...!! With a newly renovated and licensed restaurant/cafe just at the front of The Art Gallery, called 'FRANK' AGWA (Art Gallery of Western Australia) Don't take my word on it.... Come take a look..! A great day out for everyone....

My granddaughter and I visited today. First maccrons pastry and coffees.👍👍👍, then a wonder through the shop. Yip back to front but fun. Ground floor art covering the nuclear testing that happened in Sth Australia. My granddaughter was stunned. Even though only a couple of years out of high school she hadn't heard about this. To see and learn a little of the horrors that happened and her why was it allowed? Hindsight is a wonderful thing sometimes. The artist Anna Park has bought her work to W.A. from America. Wow 👏 👌 I could go on but go see this lady's amazing work. Next the up and coming artists of W.A schools. There thoughts put into art. Three pieces took my breath away. If I could have voted for each of them. Won't say which I chose but check it out. Finally my granddaughter did a quick painting with water and special paper. Your art disappears as it dries so be quick with photos A great few hours spent in our art gallery.

A little confusing to find the place, easiest way I found was to go through James St and continue up the stairs. Would be extremely helpful if there were signs outside showing how to get to entrance. Another gripe I had was even though the building has 3 levels, the top level is pretty much for admin there’s not much exhibits and the rooftop is inaccessible. Therefore pointless to mention it in the elevator. That said, excellent display of Western Australian art and I happened to catch the Awavena exhibit during the Perth festival. Awesome example of combining knowledge and technology together through the VR experience. The staff here are fantastic.
