Went to the Brisbane for lunch for the first time in a few years, so much choice with restaurants that you forget old haunts. I was really looking forward to it as remembered clearly they had an awesome menu that had always been consistently good. Dissappointed to see that the menu had reduced considerably, a few salad choices, steaks, a pasta dish, a fish dish and a couple of other things, They had taken on my favourite triple salad side dish too (which was AWESOME). Staff are incredibly good, very attentive, friendly, polite and on the ball. Food was average. The Duck and pumpkin pasta dish was flavourless, with a very watery sauce, not rated at all by my companion. They offere a variety of smoked meats on the menu, but at 1pm on a Friday we were told that was not available as the meat was not ready (someone was unprepared for the lunch service?). Steaks were OK, nothing wrong with them - pretty much what you'd get anywhere in Perth and for a similar pricepoint .
My feedback is if you are going with a smaller menu, then make the food choices memorable and exceptional rather than average.
Maybe the average diner is focussed on drinking and not so focussed on the food - in which case it is still quite expensive for average pub fodder.
Bumped into a friend the next day who mentioned they had also been for lunch there and were also dissappointed with the shorter menu...
Read moreSo third time updating this review and things haven't gotten better. The menu is lacking for the prices they're asking. The cheapest salad is $24 for a Caesar which for $8 you can add some chicken. You can't get a side for under $20. And then for the $20 you'd be expecting something substantial. But alas.
Don't bother.
The menu has been recently refreshed meaning there is something on there for everyone. My favourite is the chicken wings. Drinks are reasonably priced and the atmosphere is great. Thursday nights is trivia night.
So they refreshed the menu again. I polled some friends and asked the basic ingredients of a bangers and mash. The response was beyond dispute - Sausages, Mash, Peas, and Gravy. Unfortunately, the person doing the menu has never been to an Aussie pub and what was served was an abomination. The sausages were thin Italian sausages... The mash was mixed with polenta, the salad was some minty c©™p that seemed to be there because there was a special on mint this week. There was even a smattering of lentils. The fact this disaster made it onto the menu means they're losing a star.
Tonight tried the roast chicken special. A slight redemption. It was moist and cohesive. Well priced at just $23. I want to give them half a star back but google doesn't allow that so here we are.
Menu reflective of inner city pub wank. They...
Read moreHey, man! So, I gotta share this groovy experience we had at the Brisbane Hotel. Picture this: it's a lazy Sunday afternoon, the vibes are chill, and me and my mates are soaking up the good times.
Now, my partner, they're all about that Sunday roast, you know? But this time, they had this far-out lamb shank as the special. I thought it was such a premium choice, all fancy and whatnot. But hey, my partner wasn't feelin' it, man. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.
But fear not, my friend, 'cause the regular menu had us covered with some righteous pizzas and steak sandwiches. Let me tell ya, they were like a taste explosion in our mouths, pure bliss. The flavors were so on point, we couldn't help but dig it.
And check this out, the service was top-notch! They had this rad online ordering system that worked like a breeze. We placed our order, and like magic, the food arrived at our table flawlessly. It was like the universe conspiring to satisfy our munchies, man.
All in all, the Brisbane Hotel delivered a far-out experience. It's the kind of joint where you can kick back, dig into some seriously tasty grub, and let the good times flow. If you find yourself cruisin' around, make sure to drop by. Peace, love, and good...
