I recently visited BeFree Café, and while the food was delicious and the coffee was great, my experience was unfortunately ruined by one very unpleasant incident.
The staff at the café were generally nice, but when I needed to use the restroom inside the café’s small farm area, a female staff member (she seemed Middle Eastern or Indian) stopped me and told me I couldn’t use it, insisting I go elsewhere. This was very strange because that restroom is the only one available within the café. It felt like she was deliberately making things difficult for me.
Thankfully, one of the gentlemen working there (who seemed to be part of the farm management) was kind enough to give me the key and allowed me to use the restroom. I was respectful, used it properly, and kept it clean. However, just as I was leaving, the same woman suddenly barged in, aggressively questioning me about who gave me the key. She kept pressing me for answers in a very rude and disrespectful way. I calmly brought her back to the office, returned the key, and did not wish to escalate further.
What was supposed to be a happy breakfast turned into a very unpleasant experience because of this staff member’s unprofessional and discriminatory attitude. It left me with a really bad impression of the place.
I sincerely hope this café will train their staff better, and that no other customer especially Asians or people of any background will face the same treatment. Respect should be shown to all guests.
The café itself has potential, but after this incident, I honestly don’t feel like returning or recommending it to my friends. If you plan to visit, just be aware: the food and coffee are nice, but don’t expect to be treated kindly if you need to use...
Read moreMy favorite spot in the city for organic eats—so happy to have found this gem! Every visit has had a low-key, relaxed vibe, making it the perfect place to unwind, escape for a bit, or ease into the day.
The beef brisket breakfast bowl is a standout, and I love that the avocados are always just right—not overly ripe or mushy. The açaí bowls can be a hit or miss; on our first visit, we ordered two—one was perfectly balanced, while the other was way too sweet. Turns out, they use two different suppliers, so if you have a preference, it’s worth checking with them to get the one you’d prefer.
Also, the coffee here is seriously underrated—definitely...
Read moreNobody greeted us, no smile or hello. I asked a member of staff making coffee if we can sit anywhere and she sort of snapped at us like we were stupid for asking and told us to order at the counter… My friend later asked her if we could have some water and she just pointed at it….horrible customer service. Worst part was, she seems to be in charge of the place. We could also overhear her and another member of staff complaining about a customer who had asked for the music to be turned down. Very unprofessional. The photos on google make it look enclosed but it’s just rolled down plastic sheets, pretty wet and...
