The Other Side — Restaurant in Port Macquarie

Mindblowing! My dining experience at The Other Side was absolutely phenomenal! From the moment I walked in I was warmly greeted by the manager Rob who showed me to my table and promptly offered me a choice of water and explained the wine options. I started my dinner with the house made ciabatta and marinated warm olives which were in a class of their own with their exquisite mix of orange, cinnamon and clove flavours. My taste buds continued to be impressed by another new delight of baby squid served with basil and fennel which I completely devoured. Next was the pork belly pasta with pumpkin puree, goats cheese and fennel. I was so impressed with the crispness of the pork belly paired with the creaminess of the goats cheese which slowly melted through the pasta as I enjoyed each bite. After a short rest and some friendly banter with Rob, I was delivered my torte caprese by the chef who took a moment to ask how I was enjoying my evening. Not a trace was left of this devine dish, every element came together perfectly to make for a light and delicious dessert. This is definitely the best dining experience I've had in Australia, the food is of such a high calibre with almost everything being house made or imported directly from Italy. We’d heard rave reviews about The Other Side, so when the opportunity arose to spend a few nights in Port Macquarie, we were eager to try it out. We booked in for dinner, and on the advice of friends, ordered all the small plates on the menu to share as a starter. I’m no food critic, but every single dish was sublime! All elegantly presented, and the most exquisite flavours! Our Mains arrived, and that was another level again - absolutely delicious! The only disappointment was that we had no room left for desert, but that issue was promptly resolved when we returned for lunch the following day!

The location, ambiance, service, and food here are unquestionably the best you’ll find anywhere. Robert is charismatic and professional. The restaurant is beautiful, and the atmosphere is relaxed. Our children were made feel welcome (absolutely loved their food and drinks), and we all enjoyed ourselves immensely.

We can’t recommend this gorgeous restaurant highly enough. Please do yourself a favour and allow Robert to escort you on a dining experience you’ll not only never forget, but will want to revisit time and time again… I know we certainly will!

I’ve been to The Other Side multiple times, and it’s easily one of the best places for food in town. The location, service, and food are all outstanding! The Other Side is perfect for both casual dining and special occasions.

When I went, I had the gnocchi, which is one of my favourite dishes they serve — it’s always delicious. The presentation is excellent too, making the whole experience even better. The menu has a great variety, so there’s always something new to try, and the atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed. Every visit feels consistent, which makes me look forward to going back....
