What can I say??? Unlike the other reviewers below, when I walked in I was not greeted by these friendly staff mentioned, they must have been off that day, as I was greeted by some teenage boys proudly sporting their bum fluff moustaches, who struggled to string two words together. After ordering, I waited for an amazing 25min for some chips and fish cocktails, with one person ahead of me in queue. So these teenagers couldn't speak in full sentences, and couldn't cook efficiently either. Food came out and in fairness, the fish cocktails were beautiful, unlike the chips which were overcooked and dry. Good stuff boys. Leaving the place, I asked if there were salt sachets available, to which the boys managed to string the words together to tell me that no, they did not have sachets and I had to pay extra for plain salt in a container. When spending a decent amount of money at an establishment, is it hard to then give the customer some salt in a container??? I know that there's a credit crunch, but that's taking the mickey. I don't like to write this review, but this was ridiculous. Poor experience and won't...

If you are in Port Macquarie, look no further. My wife is a chef and researches where to eat, consequently when feeling like fish and chips we finished here yesterday. Prior to this, our best fish and chips were at Nelson Bay, but The Chip Shop is next level. 5 pieces of Whiting for $10.00 cooked to perfection. Thin batter, no hint of oiliness and generous portions. I had 3 potato scallops that were filled with a good even amount of soft potato and thin crisp batter - as good as it gets. The chips exemplified the name of the establishment; wonderful! To be honest, on the advice of some locals, we went back today for lunch to try the burgers. Just as good. I ordered one with the lot, no pineapple and it came with bacon, egg, cheese, pickles, fresh tomato and beetroot with a healthy serve of lettuce. You don’t need double patties etc when you get a generous home made beef patty. The staff too were uniformly friendly and efficient. Cannot recommend...

Thanks for delivering the most delicious devine good Friday fish supper

You guys were slammed and working triple time Thanks so much for making it so yummy, I can imagine being one of the later orders, by the time you got around to making our dinner, your heart wouldn't be in it, but this wasn't so!!!

Seriously some of the best chippies ever and my god, I've eaten chippies all over.

A big thanks to your staff who looked SO busy and dealing with some really iffy customers thinking they were above waiting in a line or thought fresh food was just magically made in seconds, you guys were so kind and patient ! Thanks!

Best fish and chippies ever

Ps love the pour your own...

Really loved this place! Staff were friendly and helpful in telling us approx. weight of fish fillets and chips. Ordered 2 Pearl Perch, 2 barramundi all battered, large chips with chicken salt and 6 potato scallops. Loved how the shop advertised where the fish and potatoes were sourced. The potato scallops were fantastic; handcut and crispy. Fish was cooked well; could have done with a little more oil draining but despite this, the batter was thin, light and crispy. Just out of the hustle and bustle. A good place to get takeaway, as dining on the sidewalk can get a little noisy with traffic.

If you want delicious fish and chips in Port Macquarie, this is the best place to go. Spotless shop with delicious food. Ordered, to feed two people for lunch, the Fresh Beer Battered Fish & chips for one and an extra piece of New Zealand Hoki. The fish was fresh, moist, and flaky with a nice light crunchy batter. Chips were cooked well and crunchy. Minimal oiliness. Definitely worth a visit for the food. Will definitely be back.
