My experience at Frog restaurant was unique. We went on a day tour to Kuranda and being vegetarian; we carried some home made food. Someone from our tour group recommended this place for Masoor dhal(veg), so we decided to give it a try. We checked with the staff if we can feed our child and parents the home cooked food to which they happily agreed. After finishing the food, we left the restaurant and I forgot my mobile phone as well on the table and realized only after reaching Cairns(almost after 2.5hours). Tried calling from my husband's phone and Terry(owner of Frog restaurant) received the call and informed about the phone being found there. I'm falling short of words to express the efforts Terry and his wife Victoria made in order to send me the phone; not only he answered our calls everytime despite being so busy but his wife Victoria personally handed over my phone to our accommodation. Unfortunately, we're not there to receive as we're on another tour and missed the opportunity to thank her in person. One can imagine how big heart they have got as they walked extra miles for a stranger. I assure you that your kindness and help has created a space in my heart. God bless you and give you all the success and happiness you wish for.
Coming back to food; Masoor dhal served with rice was delicious and my son ended up eating that only instead of home cooked food. Cheers and wish you all the best for all your...
Read moreFelt cheated. Advertised as Sri Lankan curry but the curries are no where near Sri Lankan. It's 100% Indian. I'm Sri Lankan and I cook my curries and I very well know the difference. I hate Indian curries but had to eat this as we had not much time. Felt pukish after. Hubby had the crocodile and it didn't have much apple. I had the lamb and it was tender but great if you like Indian food. Disappointed with the advertising as it's deceiving. Not worth the $$. Plain rice with one curry for $18!! Sri Lankans always have meat and veges for a meal. Indians have just rice and one curry. Don't deceive people by advertising as "Sri Lankan" when it's definitely Indian. Disgusting and I'm offended as a Sri Lankan!!
Obviously you as the owner hasn't eaten proper Sri Lankan spices!! Come to Melbourne and eat at a Sri Lankan restaurant to see the difference in the taste. It's nothing to do with the meat or the fruit, jeez. It's the taste!!! Your dishes taste just like an Indian Korma. The spices are definitely not Sri Lankan. Our curries are coconut milk based too and I didn't taste any coconut either. You may not realise the difference as you are in Kuranda. However for a Sri Lankan who was born and raised in SL and now live in Melbourne which has hundreds of SL restaurants, it is hard to ignore the difference in the taste. Just say it's Indian curries....
Read moreGreat service, most of the food very good - the Barramundi unfortunately not so.
We ordered the 'mashed avocado with macadamia & and wattle seed dukkah with fetta' (requested on the side) as an entree and for the mains, 'Barramundi wild caught local' and a vegan 'Masoor Dhal'
I found the barramundi fillet was generous and thick however I found the fish resembled typical fish and chips rather than high quality grilled fish.
I expected a piece of barramundi grilled with the skin on, however the egg wash applied made it feel battered and the texture and taste more resembled fish and chips. I first confirmed this was not the fish and chips and was advised of the egg wash applied. At $36 I feel ripped off as I have to previously ordered barramundi fish and chips in Townsville which was very comparable at a fraction of the cost.
I planned to give a 3 star for my main alone ('It's Okay') however as the entree was good and my partner also advised the same for her vegan Dhal, I'll give the review a 4 star ('liked it').
P.S - the menu on the website currently (29/1/22) has a fish burger available which is not available on the printed...
