We found Hayabusa on Google map when checking out what to do in Kuranda. Despite didn't manage to book the train and SkyTrain (fully booked on the day we wanted to go), we were set to drive to kuranda to try out Hayabusa. It was a worthwhile trip 👍 The venue is rustic and intimate, very much like the hole in the wall little eating places you find all over Japan. The host is a very friendly and welcoming japanese husband and wife team. The main meals are delicious. My husband loves and knows good Japanese curry and he gives 👍 and very delicious comment. The Japanese sweets is really special. I live in Melbourne and I don't even know the place that sells Dango, mochi, dorayaki that don't come from a packet. We ofcourse ordered all of the above and really enjoyed them. Even if you don't know anything about Japanese food or sweets, just be adventurous ! The lovely host will be happy to...

This is a delightful (and tiny) place to get lunch amongst the many busy main stream eateries in Kuranda. We had to wait - putting our name down and a phone number for them to call us - but it was worth it. The food is prepared in an equally tiny kitchen at the front with the tables out the back, you can also get takeaway too. Reading other reviews this is a family run place, and it felt like that too, very friendly and there was a quirkiness to it all that was charming. For example, you can buy kimonos here. The speciality is apparently the desserts and there’s an old manual machine for shaving ice that’s worth a look when they’re using it. A little taste of backstreet Japanese food and a break from the bustle and tourist...

Absolutely loved the experience here. Every time I visit Kuranda, I’ve always wanted to eat here, but it has always been full every time. Finally today, I managed to get a seat! My partner and I enjoyed the chasoba immensely, both of the broths were super flavourful, and complement the chasoba well.

We also had the chicken steamed dumplings, which to be honest, was a bit disappointing as the wrapper was indeed a bit more doughy and thicker than we would like, but we enjoyed it nonetheless.

I have had the dango before, and I love it every time! They are so authentic, and it really does feel like a small slice of Japan ❤️ Highly...

I decided to visit this place due to its impressive 4.9 rating on Google Maps, but the food experience didn't quite live up to my expectations. The dumpling wrappers were unfortunately soggy, giving them a mushy dough-like texture. The curry, on the other hand, was a bit too salty and reminded me of supermarket instant curry. However, I must commend the hosts for their warm and friendly demeanor

Amazing small restaurant ran by a lovely Japanese couple! Remind me the old days walking in Tokyo and Kyoto narrow streets when travelling in Japan. It is a must to try when visiting Kuranda village. Only three tables but worth waiting to be seated. Highly recommended to try the dessert with crushed ice and sweet beans, taste great! We really enjoyed their authentic Japanese hospitality!!
