Gringo's Mexican Cantina — Restaurant in Queensland

Definitely don't waste your time at this terrible so called restaurant. Hey if you want microwaved terrible tasting food trying to do Mexican then dine here. Maybe go to the shops and cook yourself old el paso cause you'll smash it better than the drunk chef/owner who greets you at the the door with a " You have to be quick cause we're closing soon @ 7" sitting out front dinking beer. No wonder your closing soon cause you have no idea how even cook the cultures food your supposedly replicating. Maybe learn how to cook... your menu says baked.... not microwaved your menu says toasted not microwaved. Do you know the difference because your patrons do! Next in line we move towards service, we entered stupidly.. sat reading the menu for 15 minutes and being the only people in the place, heard the owner call out to the young waitress.. "hey we have people here", you think they'd jump on the order seeings their closing soon but NO! Had to call out we're ready to order now.. maybe they had to warm the microwave up or something. No tables were being sanitised only cleared. In these times this is just normality. Fans were black covered in dust.. The waitress had no idea even how to spell the items we chose for the docket to the kitchen. Enough said even though there is so much more I could say. Will never go back and would like to make everyone else aware this place should implode upon itself and cleanse the world of it's terrible attempt to feed bin chickens. If it were just based on the food, and service on the night, I'd give it 4 stars. The problem is contacting them! Website only shows booking available by phone and they don't open until 5.30. Also shows open Tuesday onwards, but phone rang out numerous times from 5.45 -7pm...So good luck with that. And this is not the first occasion. Last time I tried mid afternoon on a Friday, phone obviously got diverted and a very grumpy man answered. His attitude was appalling. Didn't even answer with the business name, didn't sound like he wanted to take a booking, didn't want me to book after 7pm, cause "they weren't busy enough". Not surprising with that kind of customer service. Had we not been hanging out for Mexican I would have not bothered. Need to lift their game in that area. Update website if opening hours are incorrect and bring in online bookings to get with the times. Or at the very least, an email or answering service. This place has great food, so I will be giving it one...

Gringo's, Gringo's where do I start. Microwaveable food, ice burg lettuce and lumpy beef. We didn't order an entree, wise choice on our behalf. I ordered 'nachos delux' which translates to '10 corn chips with microwaved beef and chicken with cheese melted to the bottom of the plate.' No flavouring whatsoever, what is the Gringo secret to making beef chewy and tasteless? Gringo special, don't share the recipe please. Chewy beef and hard cheese with no taste stuffed in a dry capsicum. How can we mess this up even more? We'll put this tasteless mess on iceberg lettuce! Ingenious, unlike the waitress who death stared us and the cheery one who wouldn't ask before clearing the table. Over all, a terrible experience, Mad Mex...
