Went there for the Wednesday tacos. The staff were friendly, accommodating, and overall wonderful. The venue itself was spotless and beautiful.

I ordered a margarita and 3 different tacos. After I placed my order, they brought me out some chips and a guacamole(?) Dipping sauce and some corn ribs. I didn't order them but I've never been to a Mexican restaurant that doesn't give you free appetisers, so I thought nothing of it.

The margarita was pretty standard. Nothing in it really stood out at all. The tacos were the same. As average as food could really get. No wonderful spices or anything that really hits you the way Mexican should. Extremely blan. Not bad, just not great.

My problem here is the pricing. The tacos were $7 each. I fail to see how that's a special. Maybe I just never noticed the price of tacos skyrocketing? $7 per taco is vastly more than I've ever paid for tacos, especially ones so small and blan. I understand businesses need to make their profits, but that's excessive.

The thing that really set me off was the chips and corn. Turns out that they are "automatically added to the bill for the Wednesday tacos special" according to my waitress. So now they are just throwing stuff on there that you didn't order, but also charging you for it. I could have just overlooked that if it was written on the menu somewhere, and to be fair, it might be and I just missed it. It's still ridiculous either way.

Overall it's a wonderful venue with amazing staff. The food and drinks are nothing to write home about. If you have a few extra notes burning a hole in your pocket, stop by for the atmosphere...

Mixed review.

Cairns has a long proud history of some pretty underwhelming mexican options , especially since the closure of green ant. Guerillas certainly does an admirable job of attempting to fill that void and almost gets there but really let's itself down in a few departments.

The food was delicious, flavour amazing but my tacos were cold on arrival, the tortillas while delicious, waaaay to oily and portion sizes for both our mains way to small for their cost.

My girlfriend waited 15 minutes for her main to come out after my tacos had arrived. Thankfully we agreed I shouldn't wait for her meal to arrive before eating mine given they were already cold on arrival.

The drinks took over half hr to arrive and this is in part to the fact that they clearly are cramming too many people into their space. We had a booking for 7pm and they were far from ready for us.

I get times have been tough and businesses need to recoup but feel the establishment would be highly improved by perhaps reducing table numbers so staff can focus on more prompt service and food delivered hot and in a reasonable time frame apart for their customers.

In summary, good food but place needs improvement to get us...

The staff were great, the setting was good, the cocktails choices was excellent and the cocktails were very good best I have had in cairns and would match or better in capital city. The main dish slow cooked beef had run out which is strange, my biggest comment would be none of the dishes were spicy 🌶 it was not what I would expect for a Mexican restaurant they had hot sce which was sweet you expect the food to taste like Mexican and it didn’t I’ve eat at El Coyote in LA a few time and it was spicy food was served hot the tortilla were off the grill the ones we had could of been store bought the meat tacos were could, the fish portion was miserable the sce they used seemed to be the same on every dish the cervish was very good but the portion was small, personally if you eat Mexican it should taste Mexican and the food should be served hot. It was ok

You would think for the price you pay the place would have its own toilet but it does not it’s a toilet for all the shop it was very dirty if you were in a wheelchair you would struggle and there were was a line up of people waiting very strange for a place that portrays...

Ordered a few plates to share between 3 of us. - Artichoke Dip which was good and full of flavour. Although the totopos that came with it was not as fresh and about to go stale (we can tell by how it’s getting chewy and not as crisp) - Corn ribs were good and well cooked - Mushroom enchiladas was also really good and the sauce was a very generous too - Scallops was packed full of different flavours. It had a bit too much corn sauce though which took away from the flavour of the scallops itself. The scallops themselves were a bit overdone too; slightly on the chewy side - Carne Asada was not so great. The meat was definitely very tough and chewy. The menu said it was meant to have chimichurri but I couldn’t identify anything that was on the plate that could be close to it. Maybe it was omitted on service? Overall, the service was really great and I can see how it has a few decent stars for reviews….Maybe we just caught them at an off night but would be good to see them improve on this….

A total vibe with layers of flavor. Expat American here, pregnant and craving Mexican food, Google suggested this spot for me and I am so glad it did. We tried the Flautas, Corn ribs, Ceviche, Tacos (one of each) and pineapple and churro desserts. All of it had us on another level of impressed. My husband's first time trying most of it and he was in heaven. Hubby had the Estrella on tap and loved it. I enjoyed watching the mixologist work behind the bar. He put so much love and attention into each drink. I'll have to come back for drinks in a year or so 🙃. But we will be back before that to finish tasting the menu and consume ample amounts of that ceviche. The place was a whole vibe, from the chill wave music, the lighting and Frida Kahlo picture to the staff uniforms. Well played Guerilla. No wonder it was packed after 6pm. Make a reservation to secure a table or show up when they open at 3pm for a seat.

We walked in without a reservation on Wednesday night and the restaurant was packed. We were seated in the bar area which was just as lovely and we were able to watch the bartender create magic concoctions. The menu featured creative Mexican cuisine with a twist and a great variety of cocktails. There were many options to choose from and we decided on the following appetizers: guacamole, corn ribs, scallops. All of the choices were excellent with the corn ribs being our favorite. For the mains we had fish tacos, pork tacos, and shrimp with rice and avocado creama. The portions were generous and delicious. I would recommend putting extra creamy sauce on the fish tacos to make them more Baja style. The pork tacos and shrimp dish were properly sauced and spiced. We had a great dinner however it came in late because the kitchen was overwhelmed. We would come back again.
