Guzman y Gomez - Bundaberg — Restaurant in Queensland

I had an incredibly disappointing experience at Guzman & Gomez recently, all due to the appalling attitude of one of the staff members. From the moment I approached the counter, she was rude and abrupt, giving the clear impression that serving customers was a chore rather than her job.

When I asked for assistance with the menu, she seemed completely uninterested and unwilling to help. Instead of answering my questions politely, she acted as though I was inconveniencing her and couldn’t provide clear or helpful answers. To make matters worse, it became glaringly obvious that she didn’t even know her own menu. How can someone work at a restaurant and fail to understand what’s being served?

The entire interaction left a bad taste in my mouth before I even had a chance to order. Customer service is a critical part of any dining experience, and this staff member completely missed the mark. It’s disappointing that such behavior is tolerated in a place I’ve otherwise enjoyed in the past. Guzman & Gomez, you seriously need to address the quality of your staff training.

This place is always busy every time I go, great service, great food. I love the help yourself sauces and toppings (my favourite is the loaded fries with extra chicken ,spicy of course then I add some habanero sauce and extra red onion and plenty of coriander for each bite) give it a go. You won't regret it, wash it all down the a small zero coke. Always satisfied. Plenty of seating for which ever occasion, work lunch with the office, work lunch with the tradies, couple mates catching up for a feed, family sit down over in the corner (I say in the corner because they have comfier seats that wrap around a table. Also (colouring for the kids to keep them entertained) get yourself down to GYG and satisfy your hunger. Great protein choices, love their chips, filled with satiety levels. Yum!

My one thing I could pick at, the music. Nothing wrong with the music playing, sometimes, just sometimes.. it's a tad to loud when trying...

Last night I had the worst meal in over 10 years going to GYG. Since HQ removed the shredded mushrooms from the menu, the ONLY option for a vegan is the sautéed veggies. I was NOT keen on trying this at all but have it a shot and… it was really bad. The vegetables were a little corn, about a tablespoon of beans, some random slices of mushrooms (not the nice kind) and a TON of tomatoes and onions on top of dry corn chips. No seasoning, no taste, just blah. Couldn’t even finish it. Hubby’s burrito with chicken was also the worst he’s had and there were plenty of staff and nobody else in the queue so no excuse. We’ve had decent food here most times and sometimes it’s average but this vegan option took the cake. I gave it a chance and it and it was even worse than I expected so now, no more GYG for us unless they come up with something even better than the mushrooms (which everyone who tried it absolutely loved, even my non...
