India Gate on the Bay — Restaurant in Queensland

I pit in a phone order and was told it would be ready in 30 minutes I go down near in 30 minutes to pick up my phone to be told that I must have put the order in at some other place. I told the guy at the front counter no I called And put the order on here at India Gate I told him yes I did put it in there so he has a look then asks the people at the back comes back has a look on the counter and then there was my order vanishes are sorry we didn't put it in the phone didn't cut off cause you said yes OK so then I go down there to pick app my order and it hadn't been done then the lady comes in and says all can you wait 20 minutes and we will do it now so wait to 20 minutes for the South get it off And then I ordered too large rice and come home and find that there was 2 small rice And no naan bread. I rang them back and told them I just put in the phone order say the name and told them there was only 2 small rice And I had ordered 2 small rice with no Nan bread Then the lady I was speaking told me that I didn't pay for any Nan bread and I told her yes I did so she checked up the price and saw that I had paid for the non Bre was really really bad the guy who originally spoke told me that Aw can you come down and pick up your non bread and we won't charge you for them and I told him that I had already paid for the Nan bread. I asked for the manager and got told oh no sorry you canid1878 t speak to the menagees not here so I said ask for the phone number to speak to the manager and I was told that Arnold sorry he is an India and I said OK so who else is and child who else can I talk to and they told me Do you speak to Bikron but then I couldn't talk to him as they do not have a phone number for him. So eventually the offer me 4 naan bread and told me that they gave me 2 coconut rice and they are 5$ each and so they weren't going to make up for the extra rice because the coconut rice cost more I today the last I didn't order that rice in the first place....... extremely bad service and no one to contact to complain to about the bad service. Worst experience ever. We spent $122 and initially got given 3...

We called ahead to see if we needed a booking for two and were told that we could just come down. When we arrived approx 30 minutes later there were 6 seated tables (3 with food and 3 waiting on food) and 2 parties waiting on take-away. There was one young server who was very busy but did not even say hello or acknowledge us in anyway when walking past us multiple times. A lady came out delivering food to a table and tried to talk to us but I told her no hurry because I didn't want to hold up someone's food (assuming she would come back to us after she delivered the food) but she just went straight back into the kitchen. Eventually the young server made eye contact (we were standing right by the main desk) and we asked if we could sit at a table and he said we could but that the restaurant had no clean cutlery. (There were several tables set with cutlery so I was a little confused but assumed he meant that there would be a bit of an overall wait which we were fine with) We went and sat down and he did not bring menus or water or clear the table we were at. I went and got menus and we waited. We made eye contact several times but he never came to us. I can appreciate that there were several distractions and things he had to attend to ahead of us but even at times when he was just looking around for things to do he still chose not to come and make contact with us. Eventually we just left and went to another restaurant. While I can appreciate that they were busy it was clear that this server had no decent experience and was unable to multitask. I can also appreciate that food would have taken a while but the fact that no effort was made made this experience a negative one. If we had been told on the phone that they were unable to handle anymore customers that night we could have gone another night. We have gotten take-away from here before and the food has always been outstanding so I am only rating this experience based on the customer service. The food all looked and smelled delicious so we defintiely give it another try but will be phoning ahead to see if the place has...

My family dined here tonight after the Indian VS Italian debate was settled.

We arrived at opening time (4:45pm) and, as a result, were initially the only diners in the place. The premises seemed somewhat dreary and don't possess much charm or ambience. That's the only criticism and a relatively trivial one at that. Mind you, the empty room wouldn't have helped and I'm sure the buzz is increased as the tables fill.

The various staff members were all attentive and friendly, ensuring we had complimentary water, and drinks as desired. They also touched base regularly to prevent delays once we were ready to order.

My group ordered a range of main meals - Butter Chicken, Chicken Korma, Mango Chicken, Chicken Vindaloo and Beef Meatballs. Added to these were various naan bread and several bowls of rice (one bowl is sufficient for two people). The meals arrived quickly and altogether, a detail that's often missed in other businesses.

Without exception, we all enjoyed our meals and finished every bit. We were all very full afterwards and therefore unperturbed about this business not offering dessert in any capacity; we couldn't have fit it in anyway.

Pricing is reasonable - $15 average for mains, less than half that for entrees and breads. The mains arrived in deceptively small-looking bowls but, rest assured, they hold more than enough. This business is also licenced and, again, the pricing for alcoholic drinks seemed reasonable.
