I've heard a few things about this place and I have to say it didn't disappoint. The menu is simple and adequate and it's not 5 star dining. But boy was the service and food top notch. Gigi was a wonderful host and she made you feel very welcome. Her suggestions were practical and turned out to be a real winner. There were three of us, including a toddler and a puppy. This was traditional german fare at it's tastiest including the beer. We had a garlic cheese bread to start and then we shared sausages, schnitzel and ribs accompanied by sauerkraut, chips and a beautfully seasoned salad. We added a few sauces just for good measure. The ribs were succulent, tasty and beautifully cooked. There was nothing left on the bone, yummo, it just fell off. The schnitzel was so tender you could cut it with you finger. Sausages were all spiced to perfection. For me, at a personal level, I love a tasty gravy. The sauce on the ribs was perfect, I would have liked more though. The side sauces, again for me, were just a tad bland and needed more seasoning. Fries were perfectly done. Gerry is a fine chef and has got the mix right. We also dined outside and although there was traffic it didn't detract from our nearly 2.5 hours of relaxing and enjoying a fine, adequate and reasonably priced outing. Special thanks to Gigi for her attention to detail and happy disposition. As Arnie says "I'LL BE BACK". Thank you all for a lovely, simple but deliciius dining experience. Another dining plus for Hervey Bay (in my...
ย ย ย Read moreSchnitzel and ribs that are absolutely scrummo, they live up to their name. We went here to celebrate a birthday, party of 6 for lunch. Friendly welcoming atmosphere and staff. Can sit inside or out. Service was prompt. Thry can easily handle split bills as can take orders under individual names. Drinks were reasonably priced for a Licensed premise. Have a standard menu plus monthly specials. The French schnitzel special was popular with the ladies. We also had the sausage platter, schnitzel and ribs combo, and the ribs. Everyone loved their meals and gave them thumbs up. Sizes were quite big. The schnitzel was moist, one of the best I've had. My ribs also came off the bone easily. We also tried their desserts of Black forest cake (light and tasty served with cream and ice cream), Bread and butter pudding (with a European flavour served with custard and cream) and apple strudel ( yummo served with cream and ice cream) Enjoyed our nearly 2 hours there for lunch. Worth a visit!! Note our schnitzel and ribs combo with mushroom sauce, French schnitzel, black forest cake plus 2 glasses of merlot cost...
ย ย ย Read moreThis restaurant is another of Hervey Bayโs hidden gems. Unassuming on the outside but with plenty to offer diners looking for authentic German cuisine ๐
The menu is small, yet balanced by house specials, allowing consistency and exciting treats
And, what German restaurant would be complete without a great list of tap and bottled ales ๐บ
The highlight of our recent visit would have to be an amazing Bavarian dessert, and special of the evening - Topfenpalatschinken. Just outstanding ๐
Practicalities; thereโs plenty of convenient off street parking, no stairs and plenty of room between tables. The venue maintains a large freezer of delicious food to enjoy at home and the venue is spotlessly clean
We enjoyed a great evening which would have been even better, with more comfortable chairs
Another must do venue to add to our dining...
