Nice Japanese restaurant run by a Japanese couple from Osaka. Delicious food in small restaurant with nice staff. We had the agedashi tofu and mains of bento boxes with teriyaki salmon and one with tempura. All food freshly prepared and served hot. Reservations a must , I made through google and got email confirmation back in a few hours. Many people were turned away without reservations. They also do a busy take away business as well. I travel to Japan 2-3 times a year and can attest to the authentic and quality Japanese cuisine. What a surprise in tamborine mountain Australia!

Was looking forward to trying this place but it was a massive disappointment. Ordered takeaway to find out the aburi scallop we ordered, we were given aburi salmon instead which I can’t stand. Also ordered fish cakes but got some weird filled squid tubes with some tangy weird flavour. Couldn’t even throw some soy packets in the bag for the sushi rolls. The shop itself smelled of stale dog wee. All up we spent $79.40 for the smallest amount of food (see photo) that was no different to a food court sushi shop. Won’t be back when I can buy these items for a third of the price elsewhere.

I was doubtful of getting proper Japanese up in the mountains in Australia but boy, was I wrong! Everything we ordered was delicious! Chicken Karage was spot on - juicy, tender and flavourful. Tofu Agedashi were fried to perfection, the sauce was a little different than usual and I believe it's because the added sesame oil - still delicious don't get me wrong. My husband really enjoyed the tempura oyster as well. Udon broth was a little salty but I still finished the entire bowl. Staff were friendly and prompt. We had such a wonderful dinner! Highly recommended!

Reserved table for a special occasion dinner and advised two vegetarians. Drove 1 hour, they called on the way to say that the previous dinner party came late so our table would be later. Already on our way so arrived and given a outside table (14 degrees) to peruse the menu and have some drinks (which no one came out to take our drink order anyway) whilst we waited for our reserved table. 30 minutes in the freezing cold with 2 kids. Eventually went inside to wait and sat down at a dirty table. Waited to order as the previous dinner party had to split the bill and pay. Finally ordered (and no tofu left!!) Food came out fast and hot, although my son nearly finished his meal before the last order came to the table. Honestly, I don’t know if I had high expectations due to wanting to come here for so long and all the excellent reviews but it honestly was not any better than the takeaway lunch curry I get from the local shopping centre food court (and yes, I have been to Japan before and love Japanese food). Really disappointed overall- especially no tofu when I booked as two vegetarians. Maybe don’t go if they have a dinner party as I felt we were just an afterthought. Will be heading back to my local at Sunnybank as the food is much better, always get treated like a special customer and much closer to drive to! Waitress was lovely and apologetic though. Good menu and drink selection. Rethink before the long drive and don’t book when there is a...
