Went here last night and all I can say is that I should have listened to everyone who told me to avoid this place at all cost! The ambience gives off an initial perception that you are going to have some sort of elevated gastronomic experience, for the end result to not only thoroughly disappoint food wise but also in the service provided by the staff (with the exception of our designated Filipino older male waiter). At the initial interaction of finding our booking, we were confronted by a relatively tall bespectacled East Asian gentleman who seemed intent in undermining my party by asking if we were sure we booked correctly, and if we booked for the right date, which was all easily dismissed by the confirmation message we received and showed, which had all our booking information. They still couldn’t process our booking, and by the time it was all sorted, this whole process took away quite a bit of time from the designated time slot “blocks” they allocate for dining-in, which is an hour and a half. The food, we ordered Banquet 2, and although the food was not bad, in the context of the price point they are offered, they should be considered bad. The food is marketed as some sort of Asian Fusion cuisine however it was more reminiscent to the western-style Chinese food you find in small regional towns in Australia, with the exception that those eateries don’t come under the false pre-tense of finer dining and exorbitant pricing. If you want an Asian Fusion experience in Townsville, you are more well-off going to Shorehouse as they actually have some decent and interesting choices rather than the generic retitled options you get here at Miss Songs. If you do like the western-style Chinese food, and you don’t mind taking away the novelty of “The Ville”, there are a bunch of mom&pop Chinese eateries in suburban Townsville that provide better quality food and have much more options that are much more worth your money (*cough* Mr Young *cough). You would also be providing support to small businesses rather than a legacy company that has a monopoly on tourism in the region. The waiter (white shirt) designated to us was an older Filipino who was quite lovely and accommodating but the junior staff (blue shirts?) were absolutely atrocious during our time there last night. They would reach over the table rather than go-around, and they would stack new dishes onto older plates rather than setting the older dishes aside and removing them from the table. In my experience last night, when they did take old plates, they took our cutlery with them as well, so we had to try to call the attention of our busy waiter to get replacement cutlery. I get that these junior workers are probably young international students from Asia trying to get-by but from what I’ve seen in other reviews here on Google, there seems to be an inherent lack of will to do their jobs and roles well with these junior staff, which is thoroughly disappointing.

Overall the experience at the newly opened Miss Songs was a bit hit and miss.

For this type of Asian food at this price I went in with high expectations of both food and service so forgive me if you believe the rating is harsh.

FULL REVIEW== The atmosphere and décor is nice and the dining area is a good small size for the restaurant. We booked a table for 5:30pm and when we arrived there was only 1 other table seated. It was also clear during the booking process that they double book tables for later guests to dine, so it’s best to double check this while booking if you wish to stay late.

The food was a bit hit and miss, being a party of 3 we got 3 entrees, 2 Rice/Noodle Sides and 3 mains. The entrees where great, the Beggar’s Pork was a tad chewy if I had to be picky but was nicely crispy and seasoned well. We ordered the Special Fried Rice and the Singaporean Fried Noodles for sides, the noodles where great and had good flavour. The Special Fried Rice on the other hand is probably the most overpriced standard fried rice I have ever had, for $16 I would expect it to be perfect, however the pork bits where tough and there was not much of a difference from a normal Chinese restaurant.

The main meals on the other hand were mostly great with the Crispy Skin Baby Chicken and the Scotch Fillet (Sizzling Plate) both looking and tasting fantastic. The crispy skin baby barramundi was good however since one side of the barramundi is served faced down on the plate in a pool of the sweet sauce, this caused the taste of the face down side to be extremely sweet.

The service of Miss Song’s could greatly be improved considering the price point of this restaurant. The staff themselves were extremely friendly, well-presented and helpful however when it came to delivering food it was placed at the end of the table which resulted in us having to move the dish from there ourselves, but this could probably be attributed to the small size of table in general. In addition to this with certain dishes that would require something like a knife to portion it out (like a whole fish) was not supplied and these utensils had to be asked for.

Overall, I am being very nit-picky with this review due to the price point of this restaurant however I really do think there is a lot left to be improved in both food, table size and service of the restaurant without even factoring in the price, which is to be expected as this is a new restaurant type...

Went here tonight for anniversary dinner 8 years, straight of the bay the food was amazing here! Entree - crab spring rolls and salt and pepper calamari amazing - Mains Prawn dish / sizzling steak / XO fried rice - Dessert Crème brûlée =$207 with 4 drinks.

Food service - 1/5 unfortunately as this really ruin the end of the night. Liam was a great server and then we got server for the night and he was just on a another planet 0/10 customer service. Got no introduction from the waiter just a simple what you want to drink and eat. 0 - communication with customer and with staff, no entree cutlery set just got main cutlery for the rest of the night - didn’t ask how are meals were going - mains arrive and we end up telling another staff member where our steak dishes as we waited for it arrived - mains got cleared and didn’t wipe down our table to get ready for dessert- had to again ask another staff member to ask where is my dessert. Liam at the end had the experience customers and just sad we end up with someone who was clueless and no overall customer service 😔

3 stars for the food and drinks - would of been 5 stars if customer service experience was better.

Given feedback to staff member at the desk and fill out a form.

Just really disappointed as we don’t go out lot and spending $200 just getting an average experience 😕.

Please take this feedback in and please train your staff customer...
