I don't think I have never experienced such poor service in my life. The lady at the front was so rude it turned me completely off ordering any food. I was one of the last people to order in a line of 3 people from my table. With every person in this line that had to interact with this lady she became more and more hostile to each one of us. When I went up and had asked for an orange juice in the adult size and a water, she rudely walked off and exclaimed "that's a choice" while combining both the cup of water and my orange juice (not at all what I wanted and it was obvious as she had identified it as an unusual thing, that could have been easily asked for clarification if she had a morcel of care for the customer). The service wasn't the only poor thing, the portion sizes for the food we were served was tiny for the "adult size". 21 Dollars for some tacos half the size of my finger (3 of them). They then had the audacity to ask for a tip.
We went there for a birthday, and this same lady had come out with the candles, put her fingers all over them, then shoved them into the cake. She then gave the birthday girl the lighter to light her own candles, then rudely snatched the lighter off her and gave it to someone else to light, and walked off. To be honest, the rude service was completely localised to this one lady who appeared to be the senior there, as the town younger girls who were obviously training and very nervous were lovely. More on that note, the man playing the guitar was ripping it and created such a nice atmosphere, which was only ever interrupted when we had to unfortunately interact with the lady from the front counter.
I never leave reviews but the experience I had here was one of the most poor I have ever had before I would never return, and I think I just want to make whoever is reading this (customer or owner/manager) aware what you are getting yourself into when you decide...
Read moreWe have been wanting to try the Commonwealth Hotel for ages now and we finally got there for brekky this morning with our 2 year old. Super disappointing unfortunately. The wait time was long considering its wasn't busy (maybe 35 mins), which wasn't the worst thing considering the playground which was good to entertain our son while we waited.
My husband and I both got eggs Benedict. Oh man, worst eggs Benny I've ever had. It was stone cold when it came out. The smoked salmon on mine was still frozen in parts. The hollandaise was terrible - super runny, flavourless and not at all made correctly. Not only that but they brought out our sons meal out about 20 minutes after ours. This is my pet hate with restaurants - a tables meals should all be brought out at once.
We didn't finish our meals, we just left and we won't be back unfortunately. Maybe it's a great place and we just went there on a bad day, but I can't bring myself to pay for food that I can make 100 times better at home for a quarter of the price. Such a shame because it's such a beautiful place and I really thought we'd found...
Read moreI live 3 blocks away (4yrs) & scantly hear their music in the back yard, till last night. Music was so loud I thought - rock concert - so dressed up & arrived 7pm. Alienate (a band) was playing.
Four people dancing, 4 to the side of dance floor & a table of 8-12 in the shadows with absolute ear shattering volume. I like a good band but also like to hear my own voice, so went home and phoned them about the noise level.
The Duty Manager (Daniel) said I'm not the only complainer. He failed to ask where I lived, proximity to venue or record contact details. Daniel stated 100 decibels is ok to 8pm then has to be 80. With a 30yr history in hospitality I doubted this was so.
Sadly like many local pubs they drive away locals to accommodate a few, ignorant of their best source of income - their neighbors. Welcome to South Townsville!
Wake up and earn a living by harnessing - not alienating - the hundreds of people who can and will make or break you. We're you're neighbors - offer an environment we want to come...
