Wisdom Cafe. — Restaurant in Queensland

Really bad experience with the owner. Do not come here and use their wifi. As a solo traveler and new to the area, I did not feel welcome. I am a remote worker and backpacker, one of my favorite pastimes is finding new cafes to work at when I arrive at a new place, as a way for me to interact with locals, try local food & coffee, and experience the new town. I saw free wifi listed during a quick google search for this cafe, and was given the wifi password upon arrival. I was initially impressed by the cafe and their menu items. The owner seemed stressed and standoffish each time I visited, but I enjoyed the view and menu items so came back. I came here two separate times. Each time I ordered at minimum 15$ worth of food or beverages as I worked for a couple of hours on my laptop. The third time I arrived, after I ordered a smoothie the owner pointed out a new sign that said: “free 30 min wifi use after a purchase of meal”. He said a smoothie did not qualify as a meal, and I could not use their wifi if I planned to stay. I was appalled. He explained it’s not fair for his business to have people “sit all day on their computer and not purchase any meals and steal their wifi”. So apparently each customer needs to spend $20 on a meal to cover their wifi bill? I understand if I were to come and never purchase anything, but I have never not purchased anything when I work at a cafe, and I couldn’t help but feel targeted and like this new sign was about me. And that’s the thing, I didn’t come here to “steal” their wifi, I can get free wifi at the hostel I am staying. I came here for the experience: to enjoy their menu items, to maybe interact with the owners, enjoy a new cafe in a new town, etc. As a solo traveler just arriving in Airlie Beach, not knowing anyone, I left feeling discouraged and extremely unwelcome. I had an amazing experience at Wisdom Cafe! The açai bowl I ordered was absolutely delicious—fresh, vibrant, and perfectly balanced with all the toppings. It’s easily one of the best I’ve had.

What really made the visit memorable was the exceptional customer service. Kevin, who helped me at the register, was incredibly friendly and welcoming. He went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect, creating such a positive and enjoyable atmosphere.

Very nice coffe near the lagoon in airlie beach. However there is some problems : the staff was not welcoming and not friendly at all ( they were bored to work there ). Then I ordered an acai bowl with my partner , her was pretty good and big but my was half empty…. We add some pnb but it was a bad one even more for the price 1,80 to have a spoon of pnb from a jar of 2 kg, that’s a shame to give such a bad peanut butter for this price …. Finally the acai bowl was not bad, but too small, the peanut butter was bad and some ingredients were missing in our bowls. Maybe it was bad luck but I will not recommend this place if you want a real good...
