Moules - Frites- this was not..
The appearance of the 6/7 mussels was nothing short of repulsive. Shrunk, discolored, and devoid of any signs of life. This plate was a visual nightmare that set off alarm bells from the start.
The moment we attempted to sink our teeth into these mussels, we were met with a rubbery, chewy consistency that was inedible. The texture alone was an insult to the palate but these mussels delivered a repugnant, fishy taste that lingered like a foul stench. In 49 years I have never spat out food until last night.
Beyond the revolting taste, smell and texture, the most alarming aspect of this ordeal was the blatant disregard for food safety. It was evident that these mussels were far from fresh, raising serious concerns about the restaurant's hygiene practices.
There is no sugarcoating the reality of this dining experience. The mussels in question were an abomination that should never have left the kitchen. From their repulsive appearance to their offensive taste, texture, and aroma, there was not a single redeeming quality to salvage this culinary disaster.
Although the meals were replaced, it was suggested that they did not continue to serve mussels - they did…and it was left to the young front of house staff who clearly didn’t have the knowledge or experience to handle the situation.

Read moreWE decided to book for dinner on our arrival in Robe this afternoon as we had previously eaten at the former establishment of “The Project” and were satisfied with our meal. This evening I ordered the Moroccan Chicken and a Green Salad intending to share and to be honest it was disappointment all round. The Moroccan chicken was one Maryland piece which had been marinated and Sous Vide before being chargrilled. For $29.90 I expected a larger serving, although the minted joghourt and cold shaped CousCous was adequate. Perhaps the waitress should have advised us that the chicken wasnt suitable for sharing. The green salad consisted mostly of parsley, some basil and cucumber. For $14.95 it was unsatisfactory and overpriced. I had expected a far more interesting dinner and am extremely disappointed. Perhaps I should have ordered the ‘safe’ pizza! A table of young girls celebrating a birthday was totally out of control, screaming across the restaurant and generally being loud and annoying. The parents smiled indulgently across the restaurant. I find this behaviour unacceptable. On an upbeat note my glass of Limestone Coast Rose...
Read moreWe went here on the 30th for our one year anniversary. I was incredibly pleased with the service this place had to offer. The atmosphere was comfortable and a bit echoey, but that wasn't a problem.
We ordered the Pork Dumplings, Pasta Special, Pulled Beef Bolognese and a BBQ Chicken Pizza. The dumplings were the perfect texture, just enough to touch the sides and prepare us for our meals. The food arrived quickly and they asked for the order in which we would like for the dishes to come out, which I found very professional and polite. The food was absolutely delicious, the pizzas just as amazing as they used to be back in No. 6!
The only thing I thought that could be improved was the pasta special, it was great, however once the spice settled, it could have done with a but more flavour. It was still very enjoyable though. The organic sodas were really lovely too. The waitresses were kind and always had a smile upon their faces, which made the experience even more comfortable and enjoyable.
Such a lovely, established restaurant with quite reasonable pricing as well! I'm sure we will be returning...
