Viet 21 — Restaurant in Robe

Please do yourself a favour and dine elsewhere. This place is not worth the money we paid and there are so many better options for dinner in town. We should have known from lack of patrons at the establishment on a Saturday night that it wasn’t going to be great.

This place is advertised as ‘fresh’ Vietnamese cuisine and the food was horrible and certainly not fresh. The Bao buns werent fresh and came ready made from the front counter cabinet. They were flavourless, dry and had a horrible texture, it was as if they had been in the cabinet all day. I ordered the rare beef pho for my dinner, which was the worst bowl of pho I have ever had. I was able to eat the brisket pieces and that was it. I left a full bowl of soup. Flavourless, and horrible. I actually told the wait staff how I felt about the meal, to which I received no help/alternatives, with the response being “okay” and the waitress walking away. Came here for lunch looking for a nice tasty flavourful pho soup but left disappointed. The staff are very friendly however poorly trained, and were not up to speed on the menu. The pre poured table water tasted like detergent and the table sauce bottles were very dirty. We ordered a pho soup, prawn rice paper roll, banh mi and Vietnamese coffee.

Vietnamese coffee and banh mi were great however the pho lacked in flavour, tasting like a pho steeped tea. My noodles were over cooked and all stuck together. The soup did not come with any fresh toppings aside from doing onions however, to my disbelief there was lettuce in the soup. Currently sitting here in Viet 21, and it’s been genuinely a pleasure to eat here with my family and another couple.

We’re travelling from Adelaide for a couple of days away from the city, and was pleasantly surprised to see Asian cuisine here in Robe.

We each had 2 bowls of pho, (I had beef and Zion had the combination) and our partners had a banh mi respectively. Flavours were on point, and great serving sizes.

Hospitality was amazing, letting us take the time to order and not rushing us, and was just pleasant to talk to workers. Thank you Sharon!
