My husband and I went to Kiama on 30/07/22 for a short trip. We crossed several shops and though we might try Thai food for lunch. I visited one Thai restaurant years back and it was nice. However this time we decided to try different place. My husband chose Nirand because they had a ‘boat noodle soup’. We were welcomed well initially, were seated in the beautiful spot. Happy to order. A waiter came with 2 menus, a menu version which he said the dish is small and a main menu. My husband wanted to order a boat noodle from the menu version that was suggested portion is small and extra entree. I personally wanted small plate as I was not too hungry. The waiter kept forcing us to order from main menu, not the 10-12 dollar menu. No boat noodle and I was forcing too much. I decided to only have a dish from $10 menu. Mu husband was more kind to choose a dish from main menu and an iced coffee. The waiter ask if i drink anything with an impolite manner. I kept strong mind to just spend $10 for my meal. The food came as sweet and small black pieces from the chicken. My husband dish was fine. I did not want to write anything but the attitude, the careless of people who runs this restaurant made me feel disappointed. This is tourist place, not many options but look at surrounding. You are gonna be outdated soon with such a bad hospitality. If you dont want people to order in 10-12 dollars menu, dont bring out this menu. Not everyone comes because of ‘cheap’ menu. You would have let us pay 50 dollars for a food and drink that lunch when there was only two of us in the restaurant if your hospitality was good. I even did not want to spend a dollar at your place but because we stepped in and my husband was too kind. Remember this, people may just visit Kiama one for a few times but they take all experience forever. This is bad...
Read moreThe customer service here is horrendous!! My partner and I came at 2:15 for a very quick lunch special (they close at 3) and the staff were sooo rude! We sat down and the waiter told us to hurry and choose because they closed at 2:45. We chose on the spot as we were happy to make it a quick meal. He then returned with the cutlery and told us ‘no long lunch just be quick we close at 3’ we smiled and said yes no worries we will be quick. We thought it was a bit odd he had told us twice but made light of it. He then returned with the food which was really quick and pretty standard Thai (but good enough for a quick drop in lunch special) but told us again, they closed soon (this was 2:30 when we got our food so still 30 mins to go). My partner finished in minutes and I was trying to eat my curry quickly but it was hot, the waiter came over and cleared my partners plate and said to me ‘you came too late everyone closes at 2:45!’. At this stage it was just persistent pressure and made us both feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. I finished my meal at 2:38.. and made sure to check the time so we weren’t overstaying - mind you not a single person was in the entire restaurant! I understand letting us know they closed soon, but all 4 times he came to the table he told us to hurry rudely (and we were only in the restaurant 23 minutes!!!) I have never met ruder staff in my life! We tried to smile and thank them constantly to compensate their rudeness but we ended up leaving feeling terrible and uncomfortable. Honestly do not go here !! They clearly don’t...
Read moreImportant, please read on.....We went to Nirand Thai Restaurant on 28th Sep 2015 all the way from Sydney to have a nice lunch and a nice day in Kiama, the restaurant was empty and my wife presented the voucher from Groupon the owner asked for confirmation email which was unnecessary and while my wife was searching for it he pulled her mobile phone off her hands and said " you don't know how to do it and you are not listening "
We both got very offended by the behaviour of this rude and stupid man we complained about his extremely rude attitude and behaviour towards a customer but he got louder the problem got escalated and we had to call the Kiama POLICE.
Our day was ruined and my wife couldn't eat all day. When we checked Nirand Thai Restaurant reviews we were even more shocked also Shops and Pharmacy told us how rude they are and how bad is their food and to use their toilet you have to PAY!.
We have been to many countries around the world and we recommend everybody to stay away from Nirand Thai Restaurant in Kiama.
We are also disappointed with Groupon because of selling vouchers without even checking the reviews!!!
I've had a restaurant in Sydney for a few years and I know how unprofessional is that sort of behaviour. Nirand Thai restaurant is not going to last for...
