About a week ago my cousin from Kazakhstan moved over to live with my family, so naturally I was going to take him to one of my favourite spots in Fremantle; The South Beach Hotel. Keep in mind that my cousin is from Kazakhstan, the culture shock he was experiencing was major and after giving him a tour of where I work at the Nuclear Power Facility Plant he was knackered. I thought this was a perfect time to take him to SBH to grab a drink to relax and maybe watch the sunset, however in hindsight this couldnât have been a worse decision. When we arrived I promptly ordered 2 Coronas only to be met with the frankly depraved statement that, and I quote: âSorry, we donât sell Coronas anymoreâ my gut dropped to my pelvis and my stomach began to churn. My eyes gaped open and I felt myself squabble a handful of uhâs and umâs, unable to gather any form of cohesive words to express my feelings of distain. Clearly seeing my lack of composure (this is very rare as I am normally described as extremely nonchalant by my peers), the bartender offered us their replacement beer instead. I took up this offer as my mind couldnât even conceive the situation at hand, that and I had regressed so far as to conform to whatever they would have said. No surprise the beer was genuinely terrible. On top of that my cousin gained an allergic reaction to it as there was a chemical present in that particular beer that had mixed and reacted with some of the chemical soup we drank at my tour of my work earlier. My cousin was rushed to the ER and had to have his oesophagus replaced with a paper straw that needs further replacing and maintenance in the future due to it constantly getting soggy. Now he is permanently moving back to Kazakhstan to get a plastic straw constructed as their laws regarding recycling are much less strict than ours here. Simply put, if we had Coronas like usual at SBH this entire situation could have been avoided....
Read moreA nice spot in South Fremantle to head, large TV screens, although rather high up on the wall, so you can watch some sport, with a variety showing throughout the day.
Plenty of different seating options, high and low tables, front sitting, outside, low dining areas and bar stools.
Friendly bar staff, likely over worked and putting up with the Christmas crazy period, but the drinks were great, plenty of options on tap beers, but on the high end of pricing thats for sure, i guess pretty standard for Perth now.
We ordered the jerk chicken burger which was good, large burger and filling, and the Chicken Quesadilla. The Quesadilla for $26 was well over priced for what it was! It should be $14 and an entree. It was tasty i wlil admit, but for a main, and a special, it was over the top when it comes to pricing.
There was a 50min wait for food, which we had no issue with, but it would of been nice to know this when ordering food to begin with, rather than suprising us with the wait time when we asked about 40mins later where our food was.
Chill environment, relaxed, lots of beers, and plenty of options to...

Staff are incredibly helpful - ordered drinks and food inside however gave wrong table number. When I went to fix this, there was no drama made of it and it was done quickly.
Was told to expect a 40 minute wait for food - so ordered a few appetisers thinking the mains would take longer. It all came out after ten minutes so canât complain!
Food was delicious - we had pork belly, fries (some of the best!), Thai beef salad and the fish and chips. We were both incredibly happy with everything. They donât skimp on the portions and it tasted very fresh.
The only downside is the door to get out to the front area - I had two drinks in my hands and the door gets a bit stuck and I spilled quite a bit on myself and the floor (luckily just water!).
Overall, incredibly happy and we will definitely be going back and...
