I wanted to love this place…but my experience left me more disappointed than satisfied. I was really excited to take my husband to this restaurant for a surprise birthday dinner with 6 other mates to try the Chef’s Selection menu. The reviews were great, I loved the restaurant concept, I really thought I had found a winner.
Starting with the positives… the food was indeed delicious, every dish was very tasty but the portions were definitely not generous, we all left feeling hungry which is not great and not at all what I expected. Cocktails were also yummy but small for the $20+ price tag.
Another disappointment for us was when we arrived our table was not ready because the booking before us had not left despite their booking time being over. We were put on a small table that could not comfortably sit 8 people to eat. Strangely the booking before us were no longer eating and were just standing around the large table drinking and chatting so I think a table swap could have been better managed by the staff so that we could comfortably eat and sit at the large table and the people who had finished their food could have remained socialising around a smaller table. Halfway through our meal were moved to the larger table which was much better.
Honestly the table issue would have been overlooked if the food had been more plentiful but together it’s left me with an average feeling towards the restaurant.
We were also asked if we wanted a dessert experience instead of mains which makes me think main options were lacking. Overall I think we were there on a busy night and maybe did not get a true Wild in the Street experience that we had banked on. I would probably go back again but I would make an earlier booking as it seems options may have run out by the...
Read moreWildly bad service. Our dinner never came and the staff were super unapologetic about sending us home from the restaurant hungry.
Long story: We were at a table of 10 for a birthday dinner and the restaurant was understaffed. Ordered at the counter and paid for three main dishes for my partner and I. Food was coming to the table pretty regularly and we eventually got one side dish. We waited until it wasn’t so busy to ask the waitress about our other two dishes which never arrived. She said the kitchen had closed and so we wouldn’t get our food. At this point we’d spent $100 on cocktails (25 each drink). The staff were barely apologetic. When I asked if there was anything (bread, olives - anything left to eat because we were starving) they said no.
Anyway we’d already paid for dinner so they brought me over to the till to process the refund. The craziest thing is they still made us pay for the (tiny) $26 plate of mushrooms - actively unchecking that from the refund request, and didn’t offer a drink or any consolation whatsoever for failing to feed two people who had come to...
Read moreMade a return visit to Wildin the Street last night.
The staff here are amazing friendly knowledgeable and attentive without being intrusive.
We came for dinner, we did end up eating but the cocktails still a major focus. We went through the cocktail list and demanded more, the staff were up to the challenge and we had a couple not even on the list. One that stood out (can't remember the name😬) was a 2 part cocktail - a teaspoon of flvoured sherbet followed by a shot of sambucca - reminded me of the sherbet fountain !
The meals are great but we should have spent some more time trying the flavours. We only ended up with the Woodford chicken thighs, the smoked baked brie and the Abrohlos scollops all worthy of a mention. We did run out of crisp flat bread for the brie, but dipped the chicken in there and that was a great mix.
All in all a great night of cocktails and a little bit of food, once again will have to head back and try the rest of the food menu...and maybe a few more...
