Ordered on UberEATS and honestly... The flavour of the pork belly, the squid, the ribs, flaming prawns, octopus and everything else we ordered, amazing. Felt like dining at a 7 star nobu restaurant in our house. Beautifully cooked, I would rate this as top 3 restaurants in Perth, and I cannot wait to drop in to the actual spot. Not only are you getting what I would equate to some of the best Japanese/Chinese/Korean/Western flavours I have ever tasted in food, it is huge portions and presented beautifully - again, UberEATS!!! IMAGINE how good it would be in real life. 100/10, I have dined in multiple Michelin star restaurants and yet this was right up there. Beautiful, comforting, flavoursome, tasteful, unique, delicious.
Edit : 26/04 - decided to order Koba again, and ordered the ribs , pork belly, chicken kuning , sweet and sour pork, satay, fried rice ( both vegan and non vegan ) as well as vegan tofu salad and vegan tofu with vegetables. I would say if you're used to the sweeter/more spicy profile of Malaysian chicken curry or satay, then you may not care for the chicken kuning or satay as they are more mellow fusion flavours , otherwise huge portions, well cooked, well prepared. The ribs are currently my go to Uber eats order, they're that good. Sweet and sour pork was nice but nothing too different to a good Chinese restaurant.
When I say portion sizes are massive, think each dish is enough to feed about 4 people.
Meat is well cooked in all instances and well...
Read moreI arrived at Koba on Wednesday 1 October at around 6.40pm. I was greeted by a waitperson and asked for a table for 1. She pointed me to a high table which I walked to and sat down and excitedly started to peruse the menu. Over the next 25 minutes, no waitperson approached me at all. Not to offer me water, take my drinks order, nor to take my food order. I just sat there and felt like I was being roundly ignored by the Koba staff present. The only time a staff member interacted with me was a brief interlude where a beer for another table (that had sat down after me) was mistakenly brought to my table. This waitperson, upon realising their mistake, went and delivered the beer to the correct table and then took their food order, but never returned to my table at all. At around 7.05 - 7.10pm, I decided to walk out of the restaurant having not being acknowledged at all since I sat down.
This experience left me feeling ignored, upset and let down. I decided to take the short walk to Shui and was happy to receive friendly, attentive and warm service, 3 fabulous courses and delicious drinks.
I have not been through such a demeaning and horrible time when dining at any restaurant across the world...
Read moreWe turned up for our booking and were told that there was an issue with the booking system and it would be better to come back another day as they couldn’t kick people out while they were still eating.
We decided to wait at the bar for a table instead (we had a babysitter so didn’t want to go home without dinner) and were seated shortly after, so I’m not sure why we were told to leave. While I appreciate that there can be technical issues, being told to come back another day was not the right way to handle this.
We got the feeling that walk ins had been accommodated over bookings, or had not been told to vacate the table (perhaps because of the backlog with food).
Food and drinks were nice but took a very long time to come out. We noticed some people leaving before the end of their meal due to the wait time.
We are Subi locals and hope Koba does well. This negative review isn’t a comment on the food, but hopefully encouragement to improve their systems so that the service is where it...
