Learn moreDisappointed in our experience last night. Youâre paying near-fine dining prices for what is sub-par food with uninspiring service. 4 people and bill came to $350, each with an entree and main.
The $51 Beef Grilled Fillet was so undercooked it could barely be considered ârareâ. Iâm not even certain it was a fillet. It was not chargrilled, not grass fed, not aged and Iâm astounded by the price. It was actually COLD. Thereâs a review from last week showing raw served chicken pink on the inside so I implore the Head Chef/Owner to ensure all kitchen personnel undertake basic cookery and food poisoning prevention measures. No excuses for that.
All last night and today my partner and I have felt ill thanks to the apparent terrible quality of the produce and cookery from last night. We generally have stomachs of steel so we can only conclude it was dinner.
Most of the entrees were tempura/battered nonsense. Think broccoli in batter with some chilli and coriander on the side for $24. Cheap to make and easy to cook.
In the spirit of fairness the Rendang Curry was very nice, as was the Pork Belly. Credit when credits due.
The service was reasonably attentive but not warm. The tap beer tastes like it hadnât had its lines cleaned recently or was over-carbonated. Drinks very slow to get to table too. Food came out at reasonable pace.
The toilets were reasonably unclean and dimly lit.
I honestly donât get why thereâs rave reviews from this place: this kind of cookery is easy to do and yet the produce did not seem fresh. Iâd like to know where the seafood and meat is sourced from? Interested what oil they use to cook with too.
Overall, this is Asian Fusion that excites a certain demographic but is objectively unremarkable and ripe for improvement. There was clearly no spirit of excellence in the kitchen, nor the house, and when dinner makes you feel weighed-down and sick the next day, you get the impression thereâs corners being cut.
Will not be back. Do yourself a...

Read moreI was excited to dine at Shui after rinsing out it was related to Papi Katsu, a fav of mine. We took the 8pm seating (there were 4 of us) Unfortunately we were sat near the kitchen lighting, meaning we had very bright lighting & my view from the left of my head was a thermomix & stacks of plates that are topped up frequently so a lil noisy. We ordered drinks at the bar as our table was not yet ready, only 4-6 seats & not a place to chill while waiting so donât go for a pre drink. The lighting is very moody & writing in the menu very small lol so take your glasses! FYI Iâm not oldâŚ
Once seated waitress was very attentive to get the order in, we declined twice before ordering. I was annoyed to find starters & mains needed to be placed at the same time. This made it hard to know how many starters to order. Their loss as we would have ordered more. The scallop crude was amazing! A large serve, the kingfish spring rolls were delicious too & a mind bend as they are actually cold inside & chicken ginger dumplings that were fat with filling & the sauce amazing! For dinner we ordered crispy chicken, chu chee veg curry & pork belly. Pork belly at $39 was appalling qty & looked like an entree. Squash curry sauce was nice, crispy chicken wasnât crispy but had a delicious sauce. We ordered coconut bread as we had never had this & it was to die for along with the chilli black garlic butter (looks like peanut butter) I felt like we had to rush to order & that meant we didnât order as much food as we would have. We ordered a cocktail each & can I advise they need much better garnish. I borrowed a flower from a friend for my OF martini. A bottle of red was also ordered & I myself had speaking wine. It would be nice to see a better selection of sparkling white. I wouldnât dine there again but would definitely dine at Papi...
