Terrible experience with the front desk receptionist, Carol, at the Maroochydore Surf Club. My friend initially presented an Australia Post Keypass in Digital iD⢠to sign ināsomething that their own iPads accept as a valid form of ID. The Australia Post Keypass in Digital iD⢠is a government-issued, nationally recognised form of photo ID that allows you to confidently confirm someone is who they say they are. Despite this, Carol was incredibly rude, grumpy, and clearly on some sort of power tripācondescending, dismissive, and completely unwilling to listen to reason.
Even after my friend found his physical ID, Carol manually cancelled his sign-in and re-entered the details herself, overriding what he was already doing. Then, in a suspicious and accusatory tone, she asked, āWhere did you get your ID?āāalready implying we were doing something wrong, with absolutely no basis.
Furthermore, after she had confirmed his age, I calmly tried to explain that the Australia Post Keypass in Digital iD⢠is a valid and widely accepted form of proof of age, and their own sign-in system accepts it. Still, she flat-out refused to acknowledge it, insisting it had to be either a physical driverās licence or a digital driverās licence. She kept repeating, āNope, Post Office ID is not allowed,ā despite all evidence to the contrary.
We were just trying to meet our mates who were already upstairs for a nice lunch, and Carolās attitude completely affected our mood and ruined the experience. What shouldāve been an easy and enjoyable afternoon was made unnecessarily frustrating and tense. It left us with a really poor impression of the club and its...

We had a dinner here last night and perhaps a business needs to know when to say no if they run out of tables. I think one of the reasons to choose a surf club is for the view. We were stuck in a corner where spare chairs and baby seats are stored. Only view of a back wall and a fuzzy children's show and keno ads. By chance, there were some families who had created a big kiddy table and we at the back corner with it so it felt like we were in the kids area with the joy of young kids banging chairs into ours when they constantly move about as kids do.
Food wise, the garlic bread was good as was the Pepperoni Pizza. Should have stopped there. The Thai beef salad was fine on the salad side, and heaps of it, but the beef was just awful. It looked and tasted like it was par boiled first and too much gristle. The Rump Steak choice looked as unappealing as it tasted. None of the good rump steak flavour. The salad was generous but not the very small amount of bland mayo like drizzle. The chips saved the meal so that's not good. It does not seem like it would take much to really improve the quality of these two meals.
The staff are very friendly and professional. We noticed plenty of people having the various crumbed chicken dinners so maybe they are the better choice to make and avoid the beef dishes for now.
Sorry to complain but going out is not cheap and we felt this was a terrible experience on...
