The day I went to The Silva Spoon in November was with a friend for M/tea to celebrate my birthday…it was quite busy. We sat outside hoping for a table inside as it was really too hot outside to be pleasant and because it was our first visit to this tea shop, we wanted to sit and look at our surroundings.
We didn’t have to wait long for a table to be free and so while we waited for our order to come, I had a look around the store to see if there were any nice cups and saucers or mugs that I’d seen on their store’s website as I was hoping to purchase one for myself. I was a little disappointed to see nothing much on offer in fine bone china unless you wanted to purchase a box of 4 cups and saucers which I didn’t want…and any mugs were too thick lipped for my liking. There were various teas to purchase on one side of the store.
Overall, I thought that the displays were a little haphazard, maybe because a Christmas tree & decorations had been put up on a table that may have once had a lot more cups and saucers to choose from. Some items displayed in shelves were seemingly out of context for a tea shop. I did admire the dark paintwork throughout as it gave a cosy feeling and ensured a relaxing environment.
My friend had scones with jam & cream. They looked so dry and I’d say weren’t baked that morning which is what you would expect from a tea shop! My friend struggled to eat them. I was glad I’d ordered the only remaining slice of a chocolate tart which was amazing! I savoured every mouthful…it was delicious! Our coffee and tea were nice and were served in beautiful china cups and saucers which added to the overall experience. We had a very relaxed time together.
I do hope they revisit their displays with the mind to offer more beautiful fine bone china cups and saucers and mugs to purchase…after all if you are a tea drinker you appreciate drinking from a cup with a thin lip. I also would hope that they offer freshly baked scones on the day! No day old scones for me! Overall, I would come again if only to see if they’ve taken...
Read moreVisited the Silva Spoon this afternoon with a family group of 4 people. My 82 year old mother fell as she went to sit down at the communal table. My brother witnessed the older employee who was working the till look away and ignore us. We moved to another table and when the young waitress came to clear the table of dirty dishes she spilt a nearly full jug of milk down the front of my mother, over my mother's new leather handbag, over the table, her chair and over the floor. Whilst she was apologetic and helped to clean up the mess she didn't report this to a supervisor and no owner or manager came to check on what had happened. When I went to order our drinks I said that I wouldn't pay for my mother's coffee and explained the situation to the cashier ( yes the one who had ignored my mother's fall). A VERY DISAPPOINTING response!!!! The employee did not even enquire how my mother was. All she asked was how the milk had spilt. Would have expected more empathy shown for the fall of an 82 year old woman in this establishment !! And would have thought I would have been offered free drinks !! But NO!!! Will never return here!! Or recommend this!!!! 😡 Had to give one star to write this review. Didn't even want to...
Read moreStopped by here with the missus after our apartment reception recommended a visit.
Upon entry we were blown away with the interior decoration and selection of desserts and teas, but our visit was made into, beyond a delight by a worker named Angel. Her personality and energy seemed to lift the entire shop on its toes. She urged me to get the lemon cake, and a beetroot brownie for the missus which were fantastic - probably the best desserts we’ve ever had. Angel would make us laugh with conversation and always check on us if we’re happy with our meal and drink.
Ive got to mention that my partner and i arent tea drinkers - but with her help we ordered a tea each with our dessert. That afternoon we walked out with 2 new tea sachets for $14(what a bargain) and a new teapot, now hooked on our favorite teas.
The Silva Spoon shop lived up to its reputation in desserts and teas, but the service we got from Angel made us wish we lived closer to make it our regular stop.
If you’re in Mooloolaba and want a great dessert or great service,...
