Went in because they had positive reviews for being safe for celiac. We were told they couldnāt guarantee the toast (which is fine with a shared toaster) but untoasted gluten free bread was fine. They then brought out toasted bread with it, which was touching the other food. I asked them politely to remake it because unfortunately itās not safe with cross contamination. They then moved it to another plate and brought it out with an untoasted piece of bread and the cook told us they cut the bread on the same cutting board as regular bread. Obviously thatās still unsafe. They then claimed they remade it but didnāt give us any assurances of safety. One of the servers told us if itās not okay then we could get a refund. Very uncomfortable with the preparation, we just politely asked for a refund apologetically only to then have the cook come out and tell me that weāre not getting an āf-ingā refund and that I can āf-offā because we were told that it couldnāt be completely safe (not true-maybe advise your staff at the register better). He was completely unprofessional and combative about it. Iāve come to expect so much better and I was woefully disappointed. I will never go back and I would advise people to avoid completely if you have any allergies or food related...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt was good to have a straight forward ham, cheese and tomatoe toasted sandwich. No nonsense with cleache' bread and dribbling of oils from far off lands on unwanted garnishes. Coffee was as coffee is and the large mug suited me fine. One star off for atmosphere that they cannot help as traffic noise is available in abundance due to the high tourist influx.Attention to detail by the staff was impeccable and the collection of monastery notes from most of the World is an added attraction. Not many establishments keep old stuff unless it is supposed to be trendie or the latest craze. This place is not cluttered and has a simple mixture of art, new and old plus the odd piece of history.I have watched the main street change over the years since 89' and the tourist factor mixed with 'trendie' cartel is making the main street crowded during lunch time.Shame the good eateries find it unprofitable to stay open into the later afternoon as the travellers all depart back to their city domains.Sarahs is in the middle of the street such that most book shops etc are very close by.More seating on the Southern side ( not necessarily a shop establishment duty) so we oldies can enjoy the late afternoon sun would not go amiss! Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāll start with this, if I could give a zero star I would, this was the worst experience.
In a restaurant staffed with rude and arrogant people, I would however like to shout out the one lady who made are drinks and delivered beyond exceptional service.
From start to finish we were made to feel very unwelcome, the person who took out food Order did not say hello, nor did she disclose the added price for a salad we did not want. We ordered the fish and chips which for nearly $20 I would think to be more than 3 fish sticks and French fries and a disgusting tartare sauce.
Then when we had asked for a refund for the food because the drinks were surprisingly delicious š We were told that we were the only people that had ever complained, Iām thinking people perhaps are far to polite and had not said anything previously.
I am very disappointed considering I just wanted to shout my bestie something delicious for her birthday.
I am very unhappy with the experience as whole. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Perhaps your staff could undergo some more extensive training on how to serve customers and how to resolve and issue in better...
