Service time was good but the male Aussie waiters were dressed sloppy (black hoodies) and just sorta roamed around looking smug.. are these guys the owners sons or what? Meals were very much boring nothing special here had a variety of starters and mains and they were fine but very boring and unimpressive, it feels like maybe this place has lost its traditional roots and maybe became to western ? The kitchen staff seemed like a well run team.... The wine list is terrible, I was looking for a decent Sav/blanc and they had one very cheap Sav/blanc($20) bottle on the menu, this was amusing when we ordered it as the waiter proclaimed "oh your having the so and so sav/blanc" to my reply "well there isnt anything else on the wine list". 3 of us with starters for each bill came to $146 dollars at this point we may have returned and given this place another go...BUT THEN!!! we asked the waiter to put one of the curries that did not get eaten into a takeaway and could we purchase a takeaway small rice to go home with this off he went. We went up to pay and collect the food to take home and got out the credit card and paid the bill. Then comes the waiter to proclaim oh you didnt charge them for there small plain white rice. So they then insisted after paying almost $150 that the $2 worth of rice was worth running my credit card through again.. yes for a small plain rice.... after we paid for the small white rice another fello looked at the small rice and asked the waiter ... that's a large container not a small container of white rice and forced the guy to then go and take our white rice out of the large container and squished it into a small container. After squishing it all in there was less then a large spoon full of rice in the large container left.. i made the joke about the price of Rice in china... and left feeling a little used.....Will never go back here, we have a rule that seems to work anywhere on the sunny coast and that is the closer to the ocean the standards drop... go a street or two back from the coast and find restaurants that work much harder for...
Read moreMy recent visit to Wung Nam Thai Water Palace left me with mixed feelings. The taste of the food was undoubtedly good, with flavorful dishes that showcased the essence of Thai cuisine. However, my disappointment stemmed from two significant factors.
First and foremost, the portion sizes left much to be desired. Considering the exorbitant pricing, I couldn't help but feel like I was getting less than what I paid for. The prices were steep, and the portion sizes were anything but generous. It's disheartening when you anticipate a satisfying meal and are left wanting more.
Furthermore, I couldn't help but notice that the restaurant was nearly empty during my visit. This leads me to believe that the combination of high prices and small portions may be the reason for this lack of patronage. It's a shame, as the quality of the food suggests that Wung Nam Thai Water Palace has the potential to be a go-to spot for Thai cuisine enthusiasts.
In light of my experience, I would recommend a price adjustment to make the dining experience more accessible and appealing to a wider audience. A balance between taste, portion size, and pricing is crucial to attract and retain customers. I, for one, won't be returning unless I see some changes in this regard.
In conclusion, Wung Nam Thai Water Palace offers delicious food but falls short in terms of portion size and pricing. It's regrettable that such a culinary gem remains underutilized due to these...
Read moreHaving dined at multiple thai restraunts around the coast, multiple times, as it is a favourite cuisine, i was utterly disappointed. The prices are exuberant, yet the food quality is BARELY passable, just. $17.90 for 4, SMALL, coconut deep friend king prawns for example is beyond a rip off. Having grown up in a trawling family, i'm aware of market pricing of that grade. Then i ordered chicken satay as my main. It was one chicken breast cut into 4 pieces, served with a bowl, of the most un loved, bland stay sauce i have tasted, anywhere, this cost me 28.90. My partner got the Chicken larb, which was ok, and bbq chicken wings for free on the 2 for 1 antree. They where dry, tiny, and bland again. Luckily, they where free. Formerly a restaurant manager myself, i was hard pressed to continue being there, but it was my date night with my mrs. The cocktails where nice, but lacked the fundamental ingredients of a good portion of alcohol. The staff where great. The young lady that served us, was well mannered, prompt, and professional. Having paid what we did, for the heartless, unpassionate food we recieved, we will not return. There needs to be a compromise. Reduce cost of food, or increase quantity, and definitely, DEFINITELY find more passionate chefs. The price you pay, really is just for their real estate, not...
