I would give 10 stars if possible. We did a quick Google review check of the 3 different Thai restaurants around the area and all 3 have similar ratings of 4.4.

The only reason why we ended up coming to Som Tam is because we actually drove past it the night before.

The authentic decor the moment we stepped in took us by surprise and we immediately knew it would be good.

We were greeted by friendly staff, got ourselves a booth seat despite not having a reservation.

Food was most delicious. Hubby ordered the yellow chicken curry and he almost licked the dish clean of every bit of sauce. My seafood tom yum goong at $14, was great value with fresh barramundi instead of the usual basa. A good size prawn, scallop, a huge mussel, a nice piece of squid and a generous portion of button mushrooms and baby tomatoes.

A good restaurant serves good quality rice and Som Tam gets a big tick in serving jasmine rice cooked to the right consistency. And one serving is huge! Being Asian, rice is my staple and i always have to order extra rice. I am extremely satisfied with my soup and rice and did not even attempt to steal my daughter's Pad See Ewe. The Pad Se Ewe was tasty with a good wok taste and generous serving of pork belly.

An extra treat of Thai famous sticky rice mango dessert at $10 was well worth it and all 3 of us fought over it despite our full bellies.

A special shout out to the male staff in his white tee, who offered to heat up my Tom Yum soup as I had to leave the table with daughter for a bathroom break just as our food arrived.

Super impressed with the service. Food was right, service top notch and of course, good value for money.

This place is making me feel like I am in a different world as soon as I walk in side. It’s look very ordinary from outside. If you looking for place where can make you feel like thailand, this is one of the place that I recommend.

For Asian customers I would recommend chargrilled or stir fried dishes especially garlic and pepper prawns and Pad Pak also chicken satay which they have their own style homemade peanut sauce as well as fish cake, vegetable spring roll and chicken wing are always popular, I really recommend.

Please try chicken wing with sticky rice, this can count as your main dish which is not too heavy but...

Sooooo disappointed! We walked in for dinner last night, there were many empty tables. We were seated and orders taken and waited 20 mins for starters. One hour later and no one has come back! Still no mains after 1.5 hours waiting. We finally decided to leave without eating!! No apology, nothing. Just asked us to pay for our starters and that was it. Very poor customer service.
