Today we met Ernesto at Cafe 18' in the same complex with 18Footers Bar, Restaurant and Cafe. Despite it being such a cold day, the business was pretty constant whilst we were there. I can only imagine what it must be like on a warm sunny day. Pretty fab is what I would think. Pricing is consistent around all the places I've been to so far in the city centre and elsewhere in the Sydney metropolitan area. The coffee is personally roasted by Ernesto, he created his own brand called Yandoo Blend. The blend caters to milk coffee and toast vegans. We had flat white, hot chocolate, two latte - one being for you know who... All served extra hot - I know coffee shouldn't be served extra hot but it was soooo cold! Extra hot does seem to be an expected Australian standard... In addition 3 large oat cookies were consumed and eventually I enjoyed an Apple and Almond cake. Mmmmmm so moist and more ish. I was a group of four today and we had great interaction with the new customers, regulars and the owner. This place although it doesn't have any indoor seating, the location is so magnificent and there is plenty of seating around for you to sit back admire the view on the plentiful number of park benches. Covered and uncovered. I believe there is a Sydney ferries stop close by. The address is 80 Bay street Double Bay, that's Double Bay 2028 NSW. THE area is well worth a visit if you're in the area and is a must visit if you're a visitor from overseas.

This place has a fantastic view overlooking the bay of Double bay. The bar and restaurant staff is friendly and professional. The food is good and above pub quality and is reasonably priced considering the location and the views. We had mostly good experiences here and a occasional bad one, but the issue has always been resolved by the restaurant staff. The 18 Footers yacht club is located right next to the ferry terminal in Double bay. This is a club under the nsw club act, so you need to be a either a member, guest of a member or live out side the 5 km radius to be able to sign-in as a non member. It can get busy here so if your not a member there is a chance you can’t get in, especially nowadays with Covid capacity restrictions. Tip! To avoid disappointments have a reservation and book a table in the restaurant for lunch or dinner.

I cannot think of a better venue for a gathering. It has been three years (and a whole pandemic) since all our boys left school. So, the 18 Footers was the perfect place for a long overdue parent reunion. Despite the inclement weather, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. We had 50 people and the venue was small enough to feel intimate yet spacious enough to mingle easily. We didn't have to take a mortgage to have a night out in Sydney with yummy canapés that was substantive and reasonably priced drinks. Absolutely perfect. I'm still getting rave reviews from parents today. The staff were amazing especially with my many, many requests. A big shout out to Dana, Jade and Jorge along with all of the staff that I didn't capture the name of. Amazing. Thank you everyone for a memorable evening.

So myself and my family went to grab dinner one night, and I had been talking about having pasta all night. We go in, grab our seats, and order entrees. We get chips, and a waitress tells us the wrong ones, but we didn't realise, because we were told those were ours. We grab them. This German beer lady (an older lady, reasonably short, with grey and brown hair- who looks pretty harsh), as a stranger had commented, comes up to us, and very aggressively says that we took the wrong chips, without leaving us room to apologise or explain the situation, or even buy the chips! she came, was aggressive, and then left quickly with the chips, but that was just a small inconvenience- if that was it, I wouldn't bother writing a review.

Myself and my father went up to place the order for our table, Now, it had been a while since we got the chips, and we had looked over the menu. I was talking about getting the beef ragu, and my father was getting the same.

We go up to order, and it's the german beer lady. We use this time to apologise and say we would've paid for those chips, seeing as though we ate some, if she had given us time to stop her and say this.

We order I say "1 calamari, 1 (other type of pasta, that I can't remember the name of), and 2 beef ragus" Now, my father had been suspicious that she hadn't heard us say beef ragu, and wanted to make sure she got the order right, so he said 'You got 2 beef ragus, right?' and she didn't say a word to this

we pay, hope everything is fine, and sit down.

A little while later, our buzzer goes off. My father and I go up again to get our food. The first two meals were correct, but our beef ragus were suddenly burgers. I was surprised and thought that they might just not be finished with it, when (surprise surprise) arrives the german beer lady. We ask her about it, and she says 'no, no YOU have gotten it wrong, YOU ordered this _" (she took absolutely no blame) and i was like "Uh, sorry no, We both got the beef ragus?' she continued to heavily, and aggressively, dispute this fact, then shows us the note, where she wrote our orders, and it said, in very messy hand writing, 2 burgers.

We were very clear with what we said, I had been talking about pasta all night, and my family are very clear, sometimes a little loud, speakers. So we were sure we said this correctly, especially since there were two of us there when ordering.

This german beer lady ruined my night. Make sure if you go, don't let her take your order. She will get it wrong. She is deaf.

The burger was okay.

My recent visit to 18 Footer club resturant at Double Bay left me thoroughly disappointed on multiple fronts.

First, the food was a letdown. I had high expectations, but the mixed grilled seafood dish was so small in portions for the price of $39 plus the octopus portion was missing although it was clearly listed on the menu. On top of all, I found a human hair in my dish and the manager on duty istead of apologising he came to have a very closer look and made sure I was telling the truth. It took more 13 min to replace. It felt like the kitchen had no regard for quality or presentation.

Finding a table was another ordeal. Despite the fact that we were told booking a table was only allowed for members but for guests we are welcome to come and try or wait until a table is found. On arrival the manager seemed disorganized and overwhelmed, leaving us frustrated as he quickly claimed all tables were all booked. I explained that we came from far western sydney for the first time and hoped to be accomodated as per previous phone call conversation. The manager was rude enough to tell me that he is not a magician and there was not much he can do. Finally we were offered a table next to his counter. I must say at the time, there were two tables one next to window that had no reservation signs and were not even ready.

To top it off, the manager's attitude was appalling. When we expressed our concerns about the seating, instead of addressing our issues, the manager was dismissive and condescending. It was clear that customer satisfaction was not a priority.

Overall, the combination of subpar food, a chaotic seating process, and a manager with a terrible attitude made this dining experience one to forget. I was not even offered any compensation for the dish with the hair and the loss of appetite. I won't be returning, and I can't recommend this...
