I've been to the Allawah Hotel every few months and generally, it's a nice place. The drinks are reasonably priced and food is well cooked. On the whole, the staff are friendly and professional. However, what happened today leaves me angry and I'm still shocked that bar staff are allowed to behave like this.
There were alot of families there today and I took my little sister for a meal. When I got to the bar to order, the attendant asked for my ID. Fair enough, I produced it and mentioned I'm just here to order a meal. She says my sister is underaged and calls her manager.
The manager wants my sister to produce ID and says he wants to prove I'm her brother. When I pointed out that my sister didn't bring her ID, that she was accompanied by an adult and that there were alot of families in the bar who weren't being asked the same, he says if the police came, they can't prove we're related. My sister and I left the bar in disgust.
This behaviour leaves me disgusted and it's the first time something like this has happened while I'm at the Allawah Hotel. I consider myself a regular and this is no way to treat your patrons....
Read moreIt seems that the hotel is under new ownership/mamagement. As a result the restaurant menu has suffered greatly unfortunately.
Popular menu items have been removed including basic staples such as potato wedges. It also seems that portion sizes have been greatly reduced as well;the lamb souvlaki used to come with 3 skewers, Greek salad, pita bread and tzatziki sauce. Now the meat is already pulled apart from the skewer before it arrives at the table, probably to musk the fact its more of a single skewer worth of meat compared to the previous 3 and the actual quality of the ingredients is lacking as well; even the olives were dry and tasteless.
The only saving grace for the hotel is the staff-extremely friendly and welcoming. I guess I am extra critical towards the hotel since I have been a regular patron for a while and know the quality that was offered merely a couple of weeks ago-seeing it go downhill so fast is quite...
Read moreMan !!! Best feed I’ve ever had! best steak I’ve ever had!! juicy, tender, tasty a great portion and it was just the $9.90 rump steak (upgraded to mash and veggies for extra 5) so I wonder how much would the grain fed Rib eye or the T-bone would taste like. We also got an entree of squid and prawns they were really good, the service was second to none, the place is beautiful... however I’m leaving 4 stars as the ambient in the dining area and the decor could improve (a lot) and also the young patrons behind our table were an absolute nightmare, swearing, loud, hitting the table in general just being totally obnoxious and I was expecting for the waiters or security to say something to them, but otherwise I would have had a wonderful experience not really their fault... security should do rounds in the dinning room...
