Came here after a friend’s recommendation and the food here didn’t disappoint. However this place seemed a bit messy to me, perhaps it’s during busy hours, many takeaway orders and also juggling with the orders at the dining area.

We had prawn dumplings, siu mai, chicken mushroom bun, salt and pepper fried white bait, crispy egg tarts, fried rice noodle with dry prawn, sesame prawn rolls and mango pancake. They were all served hot and I could tell that their ingredients were pretty fresh from the taste of them.

My favorite would be the prawn dumplings. The skin was soft and thin for my liking as it brought out the freshness of the prawns. Love the chicken and mushroom bun too as it’s juicy with the mushroom sauce inside the bun, and softness of the bun just made the whole thing taste good.

I liked the sesame prawn rolls too. It’s fried to crispy for my liking and I liked the fact that the thinness of the skin brought out the taste of the prawns inside. Their egg tarts were good too. At first I didn’t like its soft texture as it’s so soft that it’s easily crushed, however once it’s in your mouth you could taste the rich egg yolk melt in your mouth, which was a delight. I hadn’t had good egg tarts in a long while and the egg tarts here satisfied my craving for it.

We had to wait a bit for our food though as the order was based on first come first serve basis. It’s unlike usual Chinese dim sum places that have servers bringing trolleys with food to every table. This is quite a clean and neat place as it’s not decorated like usual Chinese dim sum places.

I would say the pricing of the food here is a bit steep compared with other Chinese dim sum places. I still found it worth the money as I enjoyed the good food here. Would love to come back again to try their other...

I would not come back to this place.

I gave 2 stars because the food were decent but the service here was one of the worst that I have ever experienced in an Asian restaurant, and trust me I grew up in Asia, I can take anything as long as service meets its minimum standards, and this place did not.

We asked for chilli sauce, they forgot. We asked for tea, they forgot. We were table 37, they asked if we were table 39.

My group we ordered around 15 items. Half of it came out at a reasonable time, but afterwards, it was one at a time like fine dining. When there were 5-7 items left, we were out in the cold waiting on our table for 40mins. (yes our table was set outdoors, we did not mind but it got uncomfortable when we could see those arriving after us had finished before us)

I politely asked what happened and the waitress looked like me so cluelessly then only after that she said the rest of the food will come in 2-3mins. But the food were still coming out not all at once (after us have already waited for 40mins). Then we were asked if we ordered egg tarts, we did not even order it. At the end, one item was still missing, then the waitress only told us in the end that item was not available.

The whole service just did not serve its bare minimum standards. We did not get offered any compensation until I had to ask. Totally unacceptable. They did not own up to their mistakes and victimised it was very hard on them and they were understaffed.

Not acceptable. I would warn anyone who are...

Nestled slightly hidden from the main road of Hurstville is a yum cha place you wished you had more stomach room to fit their generous sized, good quality and well done dishes. Here’s why..

The prawn dumplings are hot, nice, fresh, in a generous size that you can bite into prawn pieces. Favourite dumpling is the chives and prawn.

The white bait is crispy and fresh. (Those usual chunky big sized ones are a turn off for me).

The BBQ pork bun flavour is right and you can actually see the meat pieces.

Full of umami are the chicken feet and Steam pork ribs filled with nice fatty pieces, oh so good..

Their great variety of rice noodles is a must try! You know they nailed their Deep Fried Bread Wrapped With Rice Noodle Rice when the rice noodle is smooth on the outside and the deep fried bread is so crunchy on the inside.

Always like my egg tart nice and fresh.

Hands down to the mango pancake with fresh cream, thin skin and the generous sized mango inside.

The steamed baskets are made to order so they are steamy hot, which in my opinion is the heartbeat of a good yum cha! This is my kind of yum cha, an unrushed and relaxed place to enjoy a good quality yum cha with friends and family.

Ps: Fret not non-Chinese speakers, their tick-a-box menu list...

Tucked away from the main road at the bottom of an apartment complex, it feels like a simple and homely dim sum spot. It's got the usual dim sum fare, your Siu Mais, Har Gao, Cheong Fans and deep fried fare. Siu Mai was well done. This basic wasn't a disappointment. Their prawn dumplings (Har gao's) came in the usual classic, but also with variations with chives, spinach or beansprouts. We had the spinach and prawn dumpling and that was amazingly done. Ingredients weren't skimped, plenty of spinach and prawn making a hearty dumpling. Their Chew Chao Dumpling was a surprisingly good find. Stuffed with vegetables and peanuts, it's a refreshing fare from the usual, with a good savoury flair still. Wrapped in a clear dumpling skin, it's definitely worth trying for something different. Can't say much about their pork and century egg congee. Not the most flavourful, but it'll do. Mango pudding was a disappointment. Chunks of mango which were a bit under ripe, and the pudding itself could have a smoother softer texture. Come for the dim sum fare, and maybe just stick to those. They're done really well and will definitely hit the spot.

In terms of quality of food, this place puts most others to shame, even if you do not factor in the low cost of the bill. The price for two was $60 and if I had room in my stomach I would have tried more on the menu — the food was outstanding. The atmosphere is not your standard yum cha restaurant, it is a court yard setting similar to a cafe but the natural lighting to me this is actually a bonus. If classiness and coziness was a requirement of the day then I would not recommend this place. However, I would highly recommend this place if a low-key setting with great food was the requirement. It comes across as small family run business and this really shows in the food, it exudes the quality of small batch production, it is filled with ingredients and very well prepared. Lastly, the service was exceptional because of one highlight; our tea pot was filled with fresh hot water as soon as the waitstaff noticed the colour of the tea was dark, without us having to ask or indicate with a lifted lid. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did. I can’t wait to come back!
