Not family friendly!
I went to Andiamo Trattoria Rhodes on 14-Feb for dinner and had a very stressful and bad experience. I went with my wife (booking was made in her name), our 8 month old and my parents. We were made to feel unwelcome and were constantly rushed to make way for the next guests.
The ordeal started when we reached and were told that we have been given a table for 4 because the website said 4 guests. The website doesn't specify whether its adults or persons you are booking for and I assumed it would be 4 adults and booked accordingly. When we reached, one of the chairs was removed a high chair put in place. Upon asking the manager why the confusion, he just shrugged and told us there are no more tables and there was nothing he could do. It was up to us to squeeze in and make way for our baby's chair with 4 adults on a small table. We had also specifically requested for a pram, but the manager told us there was space for only one and we should leave it outside. Again, we were left to deal with this ourselves as we folded the pram and found a place to stack away from our table.
Once settled, we hoped things would improve but it was just the start of our ordeal. The staff took ages to bring us the menus, kept showing up at the table every 2 mins asking if we were ready and were generally pushy. We finally completed our orders and waited for the food to arrive.
We ordered fresh bread which is usually accompanied by olive oil or butter but none was provided. After pointing this out, we waited another 15 minutes for the butter to arrive. By this time the mains had started to arrive. The table was so small there was no place to place the food or the drinks and the staff would look at us to create space on the table. Fine, I don't mind moving a few plates around.
The repeats of wine requested were either forgotten or delayed by 15-20 mins and it was super frustrating. All the while the staff kept asking if we wanted to order anything more. We were super rushed all the time and everything we ordered was delayed.
Finally, when we finished and asked for a dessert menu, the manager looked at us and and said he can only give us desserts if we can finish in 10 mins as he had another reservation on the table. I was very offended but decided to not create a scene for the sake of my family and other diners. I told him we will try. The dessert was rushed and the plates cleared hurriedly even before we could finish. The staff was so rude and unprofessional that the manager didn't bother bringing the bill to the table and asked me escort him to the station to tap my card while the table was cleared for the next guests.
We were made to feel unwelcome and rushed and it completely spoiled the evening for us. I will never go back and maybe this is what the restaurant wants. If you are going with family and kids, please be prepared for a potentially disastrous evening.
Overall: Food: Decent (I have had better Italian though) Service: Exceptionally rude Ambience: Average Value: Poor (The evening cost me 186$, I have had much better experiences for...
Read moreOn September 17 we ordered through Ubereats and one of the items was missing, we called the restaurant up to solve the problem and was told the delivery driver did not pick up the pasta, the lady then asked if we lice close by and if we could pick it up ourselves because all their own delivery drivers were not available, we of course said no because if we could have picked up the order in the first place then we wouldn’t have ordered through Ubereats. She then offered us a code for a discount on our next order and took my name and phone number, saying that anytime we want to order from them again just use the code she just gave. Today September 24 I called the first time at 6:32 to claim said discount and was greeted by this man cutting me off half sentence (I was trying to explain what happened last week and I want to claim the discount today and place an order), he cut me off, said he is very busy and cannot solve this problem right now I will have to call back again in the morning and ask for someone else. Again, I was trying to place an order for tonight’s dinner, I guess I wasn’t explaining clearly enough (well he did cut me off half sentence), so I tried to tell him again that the problem was already solved by someone last week and all we want now is to place an order using the code given, however again I was cut off and this time he hung up on me. My partner called again and this time was greeted by a lady and once again we explained the situation, she said “let me ask” and handed over to the previous guy who again said he is extremely and cannot deal with this situation right now and he does not have my name and phone number written down anywhere to solve this problem, then he goes on and tell me to call tomorrow when the lady that took my details down last time to solve the problem. Not only that he was extremely rude in the ways he told me off multiple times, he raised his voice, cut me off, the way the situation was handled makes me feel like I was scammed and this discount code or whatever they want to call it does not exist. I was happy to wait and hold if he was “so busy” he couldn’t take my order right then but the way he talked to customers? You don’t deserve to be in this industry. I work as a F&B attendant too so I can understand how hard it is to take phone calls when the restaurant is “extremely busy”, but that was not how is should be handled. Never have my partner and I experienced something like this and was screamed at for something we did nothing wrong. I would like someone in charge of this person to get in touch asap. Just in case the guy denies any of this, here are the phone calls I made to Andiamo Trattoria Rhodes on September 17 and today...
Read moreMy wife placed an online order at around 5.30pm tonight and was given an estimated delivery time of 6.30pm. When the pizzas still hadn’t shown up by 7.45pm she called the restaurant who admitted they’d had issues with the online orders and were apologetic for the delay. Unprompted they offered a complimentary salad which was appreciated as we were now very hungry and needed to delay our after dinner plans. Finally at about 8.30pm two pizzas and the salad showed up and the delivery driver again made an effort to apologise for the delay. All would have been forgiven if we’d received what we’d ordered, however one of the pizza‘s toppings was; anchovies, olives and ricotta which is not the eggplant, ricotta and basil as promised on the Mediterranean Crust menu description. My wife again called the restaurant to explain we’d received the wrong order and was told we’d gotten Mediterranean and to just eat it. This is completely unacceptable customer service as it was (a) not as described and (b) completely inedible by way of tasting saltier than the Dead Sea. I mean olives, anchovies and ricotta are all delicious on their own and in moderation, but a pizza crust covered in those ingredients alone is an abomination. You really sh*t the bed tonight Andiamo Trattoria Rhodes.
EDIT: Tony, are you offering to reimburse or compensate us for your...
