Appalling. Today the service staff lied to me, got defensive when I poked holes in their defence and also gaslit me. Extremely peculiar. I was deceived by the shopfront’s looks and will not be returning to this dishonest establishment. — This Sunday afternoon, my friend and I were headed to lunch, but walked past Arte Bianca and couldn’t resist what they laid out at the shop front.
We picked out some pastries, had them placed in a box, paid for them, and asked if we could pick up after lunch, which Arte Bianca agreed to.
On returning, the staff member handed us our boxes. However, it wasn’t till I got home and opened the box that I realised the the one particular pastry I had chosen (a pistacchio sfogliatelle) had vanished from the box, and was replaced with Nutella one.
I called them to inform them of this, thinking perhaps they had mixed up my box with someone else’s. They said no one else had made such an arrangement, to come back to the shop and we would work something out.
I returned, only to be told by the staff member who served us that she didn’t take my pastry, and that there was no one else who could have taken it as she was the only one in the shop, when there were clearly people working behind her (conflicting statement and reality).
Now I am not insinuating that it was one of the cooks behind her who had taken the pastry, but obviously something had happened which caused the pastry of interest to disappear. All I wanted was an explanation.
I insisted that I had picked out that exact pastry and that someone had definitely taken it, which was met with further defensive remarks and an unwillingness to entertain my report.
She told me that this mix up just couldn’t have happened and that I couldn’t possibly have ordered what I did (the small pistacchio sfogliatelle) because they didn’t stock it today (but they did).
She then volunteered to check the CCTVs but of course proceeded to stand there with inaction - predictably - because if she had in fact checked it, assuming it was a functioning camera, it would clearly show who the offender was.
As a final attempt to remedy their mistake, I asked if they could swap the Nutella pastry they had incorrectly assigned me with a pistacchio and ricotta one (my second choice, since they had run out of pistacchio-only ones), to which she said no we can’t, because you’ve already taken the box away with you.
Wow. So the restaurant stuffs up, gets me to make an additional trip in excess to fix the mistake, and when I show up, all they have to say is: Actually too bad, we won’t do anything about it.
She said to come back tomorrow, where stock would be replenished and I could buy what I wanted.
Exasperated, I took the incorrect pastries and left, saying I would not return.
I sure as heck won’t be giving any more business to an establishment whose staff blatantly lie, couldn’t care less about customer service and further gaslight their customers - Just unbelievable.
— Side notes 1 pizza slice, 1 large Sfogliatelle, 1 small Sfogliate and 1 small donut cost me $35. I would not have expected such appalling service for the price paid. The sfogliatelle pastry was unfortunately mediocre (we get good ones from San Valentino) and the donut was just extremely sweet… after everything today, turns out it wasn’t even worth any of the trouble.
Next time I’ll just wait the 30 minute line...
Read moreI have been served only a couple of either bad or overpriced pizza but those from Arte Bianca on 31 January this year were terrible and a major rip-off.
At $26 each for the mergerest toppings (Burrata, Frutti Di Mare and Capricciosa) and slightly burnt bases and edges, that were served to out family group, were disappointing to put put mildly. Compared with examples on the net these offerings failed in terms of content and amount of food, eg five small mussels in their shells and about 10 or 11 small blobs of assumedly white fish flesh floating in tomatoe paste with an unacceptably wide crust. It was as if the goal was to scatter the least amount of food over the base.
Modest size glass of Aperol Spritz with ice at $14 each !?
Sure a business should make a profit and if well intended and well managed it can do so by providing good product and good service. And then there can be repeat business and positive referrals.
Strong winds interrupted our dining, very strong winds, that made for a rather unpleasant outdoor/pavement eating experience. The awning was almost blown down. Yet no recognition was given to our predicament or discomfiture, eg offer to be moved inside, complimentary 'something'.
Getting as many 'sittings' seemed the priority and having to wait to pay was insulting.
Staff seemed rushed or anxious and showed little personality and warmth. Just making money was the vibe I felt about the place.
Pity. Not somewhere we...
Read moreLast night, we had dinner at Arte Bianca, with my friends and their 2 children.
We come here often for dinner because we like the pizza's.
However, I would like to express my concerns with the hygienic standard with dogs outside at the dinner table.
We were sitting outside and the table opposite to our table, had 2 x young girls sitting their for dinner. When they finished eating their dinner, one of the girls picked up her dag and placed it on her lap. Eventually the dog climbed on the table and sat there for about 5 mins.
30 minutes, later I spotted 8 tables toward the health food store a big 'German Shepard sitting on a chair at the table.
In my opinion, I have concerns regarding the hygienic of that chair the dog sat on at the table or the other dog that sat on the table around food.
I definitely would be furious sitting on chair that probably covered with dog hairs from the German Shepard or the table the dog sat on.
I am a dog lover and also have a dog myself, however, dog owners should respectfully consider that some people just don't like dogs sitting on a tables or on chairs for humans in a public area near food or in a restaurant.
I was surprised that Arta Bianca manager did ask the dog owner to remove their dog from the table or on the chair in a restaurant.
Unfortunately, I won't be coming back here for dinner...
