ang tang We’ve been to Bang Tang before in its previous locations, and enjoyed it thoroughly, so of course we were happy to return. They’ve reopened in Orwell street, around the corner from it's old location in Potts Point. The restaurant has a nice contemporary fit out, with indoor and outdoor seating. The bright pink lighting is still a feature. We enjoyed the vibe of the new space, it had a great atmosphere and the staff were attentive. The modern Asian inspired restaurant has delicious food that is fresh and featuring flavours from Thailand, Japan, Burma and Vietnam. The food is great and sure to leave your tastebuds singing. We shared a number of tasty starters and fabulous mains. To start, the cigars are a delicious starter, a spring roll filled with glass noodles and packed full of flavour, the lemongrass is noticeable and works very well. The house made steamed dumplings - Pork And Prawn Mousse with Japanese Scallop in House Chili Oil were very enjoyable and the parcels were a nice light dish to start. The rice paper rolls are super fresh, packed tightly with chicken carrot, herbs and served with a peanut dipping sauce. A really nice healthy option. The braised pork belly is a must order, it is roasted then slow cooked for four hours. The braising liquid is insanely good, with beautiful soy umami flavours, subtle star anise and spice. The fat on the pork is nicely rendered, it is gelatinous and silky. Add the roasted garlic and pepper sauce to this dish, this sauce enhances the pork to wow level. Another delicious and generously portioned dish was the Hokkien noodles with prawns and house made chilli jam and shaved salty yolk, another cracker with a bit of spice and good balance of flavour. “Trout Out” is a lovely fresh option, the Snowy Mountains smoke trout was delectable. With organic pecan wood, tamarind dressing, roasted rice, thin rice noodle, crushed peanut, fennel, kaffir lime, viet-mint & chilli. We had this with Jasmine rice. The food here is lovely, the ambience is fun, and you’ll most certainly enjoy a delicious meal. Be sure to check it out

NEW menu available on Friday and Saturday! $49pp for entree, main and a glass of wine/beer we opted for mocktails instead: 🍋‍🟩 lychee breeze $14 - lychee puree, fresh lime, mint, soda foam • sweet, minty and fruity, great for cutting through the spice of the curry 🍹 silky passion $14- passion fruit, salted caramel, mint and orange bitter • citrusy, sparkling, interesting rich taste of caramel too —— entree —— • mixed selection, 4 types 🐟 tuna bomb my favourite explosion of different flavours, very appetising 🥟 gyoza savoury and crunchy, a light snack ✨ chicken spring roll good taste of satay sauce, lots of filling and liked the vermicelli inside 🪄 rolling magic just like a rice paper roll! —— main —— 🥘 yellow curry with chicken and potato - strong kick of spice! love the presentation, quite a filling portion too 🍍 prawn and pineapple fried rice great with the corn and veg, tastes delicious 🍋 tried the passionfruit and lemon curd, (not included with set menu) found the portion quite small for the price but still balanced tropical flavours well

Bang Tang is such a gem of a place. The food is amazing. Pork belly was simply tender, flavourful and heavenly. Curry chicken with potatoes was one of the best I have had, and that is coming from an Asian. Tried the tomyam which was authentic, spicy, just the perfect seafood flavour to it. Also tried the Wagyu beef curry and the duck breast, these were simply tender and spectacular from aspects of flavour, quality, and value. And then came the drinks. The house Pale Ale were delicious and has a story behind the drink, worth checking it out. The Chardonnay , First Drop was one of their house pour, which was such a good wine and could not believe the price was just $16 for a generous pour. To top it all, service was fantastic. They have a waitress who is great in recommendations and is attentive to our needs. A must try in Potts Point for Thai food!

Dined here with a friend for dinner. A cool eatery with a modern twist on a Thai menu. The service is top notch and loved the vibes here.

We shared a bunch of dishes and started with Cigar Roll which were deliciously fried spring rolls filled with a lovely chicken mixture. Next were the House Made Steamed Dumpling which were steamed squares (more ravioli shaped than your usual dumplings) with a filling of pork and prawn mousse as well as chunks of scallops. It had a chilli kick to it due to the chilli oil in it. To round off the starters we had the Chicken Rolling Magic. Fresh rice paper rolls with chicken and herbs. A lighter dish full of freshness and flavour. It came with a delicious peanut dipping sauce.

For me the best dish was the 4-Hour Slow Cooked Pork Belly. It was tender pork with a wonderfully tasty soy sauce. Served with bok choi, it was elevated again with another home made sauce on the side. The Stir Fried Hokkien Noodle were packed full of flavour and a chilli punch. It had prawns, chilli jam, and grated salted yolk. The lighter option of the mains was the Trout Out. Flaky pieces of organically smoked trout in a fresh salad of accentuated by tamarind, fennel, mint, peanut, and lime.

Great place to enjoy a modern take on Thai food with lots of freshness and great flavours to entice...
